A total of three players from Luis Enrique's PSG side have been rewarded and acknowledged for their domestic efforts with a nomination for player of the year

Although it is impossible for PSG to match their historical treble season of 24/25, the current campaign is still one with enormous potential.

The Parisians have one foot in the UEFA Champions League final, after a thrilling 5-4 win over Bayern Munich in the semi final first leg at the Parc Des Princes on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, domestically, the team are currently six points clear of Lens with four games to go, and with better goal difference at that - meaning the team need a maximum of two wins from their final games to secure yet another league title.

So, although the performance in Ligue 1 has not been as good as last season, the team are still looking good to lift the trophy, in no small part thanks to the performances of certain individuals.

Indeed, as PSG trio Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha and Nuno Mendes have all been officially nominated for the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award, alongside Florian Thauvin of closest challengers Lens.

In the league this season, Vitinha has played 27 games, starting 23 of those. In that time, he has scored one goal, whilst providing seven assists and creating eight big chances, being his usual excellent creative self in the middle of the park, pulling the strings alongside compatriot Joao Neves.

As for Mendes, he has played 20 games, starting 13 of those. He has made the most of his limited minutes, scoring four goals, providing five assists and creating 11 big chances. This means that he scores or creates a big chance at a better rate of once per start.

Finally, Dembele has featured 19 times in Ligue 1, with nine of those games being from the start. During his time on the pitch, he has scored 10 goals, provided six assists and created eight big chances.

Now, there is no doubt that Mendes and Dembele have contributed immensely when they have played. However, in my opinion, you cannot play such few minutes and win the player of the year award.

Therefore, in my eyes, it feels like either Vitinha or Thauvin - who has scored 10 goals, provided five assists and created 16 big chances in 30 (27) Ligue 1 appearances this season - should win this award, as good as those two players have been.

It will certainly be interesting to see who wins either way, keep checking roundtable for all the updates as soon as possible.
