PSG is interested in West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, but the relegated club has raised his price to $100M. Arsenal and Manchester United are also watching.

PSG has decided to further fine-tune its squad in order to attempt an incredible three-peat in the Champions League. Among the leads considered by Luis Campos, at Luis Enrique's request, is one leading to a West Ham player.

PSG is already spoiled when it comes to Portuguese players, to the point of making Florentino Perez lose his mind.

But Luis Enrique still wants to recruit an additional player from Portugal, in the person of Mateus Fernandes, the 21-year-old midfielder who was just relegated with West Ham.

Trained at Sporting and having passed through Southampton, Fernandes will not be at the World Cup with Roberto Martinez's team, as the Premier League player was not selected. That does not stop PSG from being interested in him, as confirmed by English journalist Ben Jacobs.

The English journalist, a Premier League specialist, indicated that PSG will make an offer to West Ham, knowing that the London club wants around $55 million for the player who has been one of its best this season. In this operation, PSG would have a serious competitor, a club that Paris knows well, namely Arsenal.

Similarly, Manchester United would also have gathered information on Fernandes and would already have begun discussions with the London club's management.

However, CaughtOffside notes that since PSG's interest in the Portuguese midfielder became known, West Ham has raised his price from $55 million to... $100 million (€92 million). A price that Manchester United refuses to pay for Fernandes, even if Michael Carrick is a fan.

For now, this case is therefore completely stalled at Old Trafford, where they are waiting to see if PSG is willing to put that much money into the Portuguese player. The English media reports that Luis Enrique's interest in the West Ham player has not yet resulted in an official offer from the French club.

It is not that PSG has completely ruled out investing those amounts of money in a player, but it is true that the philosophy of Luis Campos and Luis Enrique is not exactly that, unless the player in question is an absolute necessity according to the management's criteria, as was the case with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whom they had to wait for months after failing to reach an agreement with Napoli in the summer, finally buying him in January 2025 for $88 million.

So, if Fernandes is truly a necessity for Campos and Enrique, it cannot be ruled out that the Parisians will go all in to sign him.
