PSG and Liverpool finalise Bradley Barcola transfer for a higher-than-expected fee. Paris nets €145M record fee from Premier League club.
Announced several days ago, Bradley Barcola's transfer from PSG to Liverpool is now finalised, and it is ultimately a bit higher than initially reported, particularly the fixed portion.
The last Parisian supporters who clung to the slim hope that a deal would fall through must now abandon that hope: the transfer of Barcola to Liverpool is done, as the English and French media report.
A few details remained to be settled since the broad outlines of the agreement were reached overnight from Thursday to Friday, and those famous details, mainly how the bonuses will be triggered, are now settled.
According to the latest reports, Barcola's transfer to Liverpool will bring in a bit more than the initial figures that circulated. Announced at 105 million euros, the fixed portion is ultimately 125 million euros, or 2.5 times the price that PSG had paid to pry him away from Lyon in the final days of the summer of 2023. The bonuses, however, are no longer 40 million but 20 million, and they would be easier to attain.
It is therefore fairly likely that PSG will recover, within a few years, a total sum of 145 million euros for its 23-year-old winger, by far the biggest sale in its history, since it is 50% higher than that of Neymar in 2023 (90 million to Al Hilal).
In the process, Lyon will also recover a little less than 5 million euros in training compensation, and Liverpool will pay this amount. A significant sum that Lyon badly needs after its elimination from the Champions League.
Barcola will now fly to Liverpool, where he is expected to undergo his medical, then sign a five-year contract binding him to the Reds until June 2031.
Meanwhile, if the Catalan media outlet El Nacional is to be believed, PSG coach Luis Enrique asked Luis Campos to resume discussions with Barcelona, after the Ferran Torres move, regarding the possible transfer of Raphinha.
Never mind that Barça fell in PSG’s path in the Champions League, after Ferran, the PSG boss wants to know the terms of a possible transfer of the 29-year-old Brazilian international.
This is obviously not the first time Raphinha's name has been linked with PSG, but with the cash Paris Saint-Germain has available, Luis Enrique thinks there could be a way to reach an agreement with Barça.
Of course, it is hard to believe that Enrique and Campos, known for focusing on young players in the transfer window, are considering Raphinha.
