Vitinha’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has requested that PSG be open to negotiations with Real Madrid over a potential transfer, according to reports.
Uncertain for the Champions League first leg against Bayern Munich, Vitinha leaves his agent, Jorge Mendes, in charge of managing his career. Behind the scenes, the latter is stirring.
Known as Cristiano Ronaldo's agent before the latter parted ways with him to sign with Saudi Arabia, Jorge Mendes has his compatriot Vitinha on his client list.
It was he who led negotiations with Luis Campos, another Portuguese, to secure the midfielder's signing with Paris Saint-Germain in 2022. And it was again he who spoke with Nasser Al-Khelaifi to obtain, in 2025, a salary increase (around $11.9M per year) in exchange for a contract extension until 2029.
According to Spanish media, Mendes would now seek an exit ticket for Vitinha from Parisian executives, so he can join Real Madrid. The Merengue have been pushing hard on this file for months, and the Portuguese agent now wants this to materialize.
"The Portuguese representative is closely following the midfielder's situation and would have taken a new step by asking PSG to begin discussions with Real Madrid with a view to a possible transfer," explains S. Montero, a journalist for El Nacional.
For the moment, Real Madrid is facing a refusal from Paris Saint-Germain, with Luis Enrique not envisioning Vitinha's departure, the third in the 2025 Ballon d'Or rankings and valued at around $119 million by Transfermarkt.
For Mendes, the mission is far from accomplished unless Vitinha speaks up to say that, four years after his signing with PSG, he wanted an exit ticket. But that is not the case if one believes the comments Vitinha made last March on the Portuguese television channel Canal 11.
Asked about his current situation, the Portuguese international midfielder says he has no reason to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid or elsewhere at this stage of his career.
"I feel super good at PSG, it would be stupid to leave. I don't think it's the best for me right now. I love being here, my family too. We have a fantastic group and an incredible coach. I already earn a very good living here in Europe, at a great club. Doubling or tripling my salary would not make me happier," Vitinha said. Apparently, his agent does not think the same thing.
