Manchester United has been handed a severe blow at Aston Villa, as captain Bruno Fernandes has been sidelined with an injury.

Manchester United suffered yet another blow against a formidable Aston Villa side. The team faced another setback against a strong Aston Villa side, losing 2-1 at Villa Park, dropping them to seventh place in the Premier League table. The game ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Reds at Villa Park, dropping them to seventh in the Premier League table.

Despite being the 'better team' as described by Ruben Amorin, United went down to the brilliance of Morgan Rogers who gave Villa the lead not once but twice during the course of the game.

Man United saw more of the ball during the first half, looking to be in control of the game but Rogers has other plans as he cut back from the left hand side into the United penalty box and curled one onto the top corner of Senne Lammens's goal giving his team the lead in the 45th minute but the Reds were reluctant to level the scores before the first half as Matheus Cunha scored in the third minute of injury time before the break from a brilliant high press by Patrick Dorgu.

Just before the hour mark Rogers scored a goal similar to his first of the night making the score 2-1 as the scoreboard remained the same after the final whistle blew.

Although the defeat was not the only set back for United yesterday as captain Bruno Fernandes had to be taken off during the break probably due to a hamstring injury as he was seen limping towards the bench during the second half.

Bruno Fernandes Injury Update

Amorin talked about the injury saying, "I think it’s soft tissue so it’s going to be a while. We’ll see." He also added, "I don’t know, I think he is going to lose some games, but I don’t know for sure."I don’t want to talk about the matter, but this is a guy who is always fit and he has shown he can always recover."

Bruno could miss a number of fixtures going into the new year as we await further updates to be provided by the club. On the other hand the skipper's replacement according to Amorin, Kobbie Mainoo is also ruled out their next game after picking up a calf injury while training.

United are already without Bryan Mbuemo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui due to the ongoing AFCON and Fernandes' injury could lead up to a crisis for Amorin to deal with as the team looks to bounce back from their recent setbacks going into the new year.
