Despite winning only two of their last eight games, Manchester United currently sit just three points outside of the top four spots in the Premier League, and at the same time, they are just three points ahead of being a mid tabled side.
With the current points distribution in the league, things could dramatically change after a single matchday and could make or break United's season as they aim for the Champions League spots next season.
After a summer transfer window wholly concentrated on reinforcing their attack, as it seems the Reds would need to build a formidable midfield in the coming days if they are to achieve not only their goals at the end of this season but also in terms of their long-term goals as sighted by Ruben Amorin.
The winter transfer window being right around the corner United have already made a list of their transfer targets for January but as it seems players like Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton won't be a viable option before the summer of 2026 as a result the club management has been in contact with another Premier league star who could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window.
The player in contention is Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo, as he is reportedly holding a release clause of £65 million for the winter transfer window.
Now, according to renowned journalist David Ornstein's recent analysis on NBC Sports (h/t ManUtd news), the 25-year-old midfielder has sighted Manchester United as his likely destination alongside Manchester City in January while rejecting Tottenham.
Ornstein talked about the situation, saying, "The names that are emerging as the leading contenders right now are Manchester City and Manchester United – in no particular order.
"Tottenham were keen, and I am led to believe they were prepared to pay a significant salary to Semenyo, but he’s politely focusing on other options, mainly City or United."
With the given situation in Old Trafford, Semenyo could be the perfect signing for the Reds this winter, given his current form, as he has netted a total of eight goals in the Premier League while providing three assists for a Bournemouth side who are currently placed 15th in the league, as he is expected to make an immediate impact for Amorin's side.
According to Ornstein, the Ghanaian international holds a special release clause in his contract which is said to be active till January 10th starting from the beginning of the new year which means that a deal could be reached between the player and the two contending Manchester sides in the upcoming days.
