After a slow start to life at Manchester United, Benjamin Sesko has really begun to find his feet in 2026, scoring seven goals in 10 games, whilst playing a total of just 438 minutes.
So, despite not even being a regular starter, the Slovenian has had a serious uptick in confidence since Michael Carrick took over. In fact, even since Ruben Amorim left the club, three of his goals came during Darren Fletcher's two-game spell in charge of the team.
In the month of February, Sesko scored in three of four games, finding the net against Fulham, West Ham United, and Everton. Two of those goals were winners, whilst the other was an equaliser - so the striker is a huge part of why United may well secure Champions League football for next season.
The only time he did not score last month was against Spurs, a game in which he only played 15 minutes. He could have scored in that game too, but could not convert a header when well-placed.
Nevertheless, a very impressive month. So much so that the striker has been recognised by the Premier League with a nomination for the February Player of the Month award.
He has been nominated alongside Viktor Gyokeres of Arsenal, Nico O'Reilly and Antoine Semenyo of Manchester City, Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool, and Dango Ouattara of Brentford.
As for March, things got off to a good start for Sesko with a bullet header to win the game at home to Crystal Palace, but he was unable to find the net in the defeat at Newcastle United in midweek. Much like the team as a whole, he could not follow up on an impressive start to March.
It will be interesting to see whether or not he wins the award. He had a very good month, but quite a few other players did too, so it will be tough. His goals were very important, as were those of other players.
Either way, the fact that he has been nominated is very encouraging in and of itself. It shows just how well he has been playing of late. United are going to need their number 30 in the run-in, if they are going to secure that top-five spot and thus play Champions League football next season.
Although it is not a trophy, it cannot be overstated how important it is to bring European football back to Old Trafford. A 40-game season is just crazy. Let's hope Sesko and co can deliver it.
