Manchester United let more points slip away in the Premier League after a thrilling 4-4 draw with Bournemouth.

Manchester United scored four goals for the second time in seven days. Unfortunately, the Reds were unable to restrict the opponent as they did during their 4-1 win against Wolverhampton. Ruben Amorin's men were held to a four-all draw against Bournemouth. This result has seemingly dashed their hopes of getting into the top four in the standings.

The change in the tactical approach was evident, as United's pressing was less intense and their defensive line sat deeper, allowing Bournemouth more space to exploit for counterattacks.

A lack of organisation and poor marking in the defensive third allowed Bournemouth players to find space, which, in turn, left the backline struggling to maintain its shape and constantly under threat from Bournemouth's counter-attacks.

Amad Diallo put United ahead with a header into an open Bournemouth goal. Antoine Semenyo then equalised for the Cherries with a powerful shot to Senne Lammens' far post. Casemiro restored United's lead with a strong header just before halftime.

Missed Opportunities

Manchester United missed several first-half chances and were punished when Bournemouth equalised in the 46th minute. Tavernier then put the Cherries ahead in the 52nd, frustrating the Old Trafford fans.

Bruno Fernandes once again turned out to be United's saviour with a brilliantly executed free kick. His effort levelled the score. Matheus Cunha scored in quick succession to bring back the joy in the theatre of dreams. That joy did not last long, as Eli Jr. Kroupi put the ball past Lammens to tie the score at 4-4.

United's defence has been a major weakness this season. They have kept only one clean sheet, which came against Sunderland in early October. United struggled again to keep their opponents out yesterday.

Ruben Amorin Says The Defence can Improve

There are rumours that Manchester United may try to strengthen Ruben Amorin's defence in the winter transfer window. However, the manager backed his current defenders. He said, "I think we have talent at the back, we have quality players at the back, we just need to be better as a team defending," when asked about possible new signings.  .

Manchester United will be without Bryan Mbuemo, Diallo, and Noussair Mazraoui. They have been called up for the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on December 21. Casemiro will also miss the Aston Villa game after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.
