Manchester United take on Aston Villa on Sunday in an all-important Premier League game, as Ruben Amorin looks to outclass a Villa side that has not lost a home game since August. On Sunday, Manchester United fell to Aston Villa, 2-1.
Ruben Amorin gave some valuable insights regarding some of United's internal problems concerning youngster Kobbie Mainoo and Captain Bruno Fernandes.
Following are his remarks on the pertaining issues around the club during today's press conference.
"[He laughs] No, was not Kobbie that wore the t-shirt, he’s not going to start because of the t-shirt and he’s not going to the bench because of the t-shirt. He will play if we feel he’s the right guys. I’m used to it, I’ve been here for a year. I’m not going to do something to Kobbie because someone on his family did something. If he is the right guy he is going to play."
On Bruno Fernandes' infamous interview:
"The difference is he spoke with the club before the interview and said what he was feeling. We can avoid these things because we already know the noise. He talked with the board and I think everything is clear. I don’t know if it’s fair, he spoke about his feelings. He needs to answer to that, not me. He is an example, he gives everything and puts everything on the line in every training and every match, in that he is special, we need to step up to have that feeling. We need to ask him, I think he’s a big example in the group.
Aston Villa being possible title challengers:
Everything can happen. They have a manager with a lot of experience, when you watch Villa you can sense it’s a very mature team, they don’t panic when they’re losing, don’t feel overwhelmed when winning, they can control the emotion all the time. They are a very strong team. If they fight to the end I don’t know.
On Harry Maguire and De ligt:
"No. Nobody recovers and nobody else is out just the guys you already know."
As it seems Amorin has been handling the press conferences pretty well as he tackles every question straight from his heart but also safeguarding his players at all times, which is one of many traits of a great manager who has been given the responsibility of a legendary club like Manchester United.
