Jude Bellingham’s brilliance and Harry Kane’s record-shattering header brushes aside Panama's stubborn defense, securing the Three Lions’ top spot in Group L as they march into the knockouts.

Tonight's victory over Panama provides a successful conclusion to England's group stage, with the Three Lions finishing on top as expected, despite a half-time scare where it looked like Croatia were poised to cause a shock.

England were able to threaten early on, with Marcus Rashford and Jude Bellingham carrying England's main threat going forward.

However, England would have felt a sense of deja vu heading into the break, with their first-half performance tonight feeling very familiar to that of the one that was seen against Ghana, with the Three Lions once again struggling to break down the Panamanian low block.

Once again though, similar to their opening fixture against Croatia, England came out from half-time starting fast, being able to create some early chances as they attempted to break the deadlock.

Jude Bellingham was the man for England once again, as he put his side ahead after latching on to a Bukayo Saka cross, which was soon followed up by Harry Kane's record goal, who was able to head home from a Jude Bellingham cross.

Other than a late Panama goal, which was very quickly ruled offside, it was back to winning ways for the Three Lions, who were then able to see out the match relatively comfrotably.

Kane Record Breaker

After failing to convert what was arguably one of the easiest chances he'd ever received in an England shirt against Ghana, it would have been easy for Harry Kane to let the miss play on his mind coming into what was a must-win game for England against Panama, with the all-time England World Cup scoring record looming over his head.

Despite this, Kane was able to put his previous woes behind him and get on the end of a delicious Jude Bellingham cross to write himself into the history books, as he now overtakes Gary Lineker as England's all-time leading goalscorer.

With the England and Bayern Munich number nine now sat on three goals for the tournament and the record broken, Kane will be looking to extend his tally as he sets his sights on another World Cup golden boot in an England shirt.

Panama Fight Not Enough

With their World Cup campaign now coming to a close after once again failing to record any points in the group stage after tonight's defeat at the hands of England, Panama will feel frustrated with how things have turned out for them once again at the World Cup in only their second ever time competing.

Despite the defeat, Panama were able to frustrate England tonight, as well as come close to scoring themselves, with Fajardo's late goal being ruled out in an agonizingly tight offside call.

However, they can certainly be proud of the performances they have put on display throughout this tournament, with Thomas Christiensen and his men coming so close at points to making history, only to have their hearts broken in tight defeats that would have felt harsh on the team.

What Does This Mean For Group L

England's victory tonight confirms their spot at the top of Group L, despite a half-time scare where, for a while, it looked as though Croatia were set to steal the spot from the Three Lions.

England now have a better idea of who they will face in the round of 32, with either one of Senegal or DR Congo set to be their opponent, with the match scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, 1st of July 5 PM GMT.

With Panama's fate already sealed after their midweek defeat to Croatia, tonight's result only confirms the continuation of their record of never recording World Cup points.
