In a recent court ruling by the French labour court, Paris Saint-Germain has been ordered to pay a fine of more than €60 million to Former star Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe joined Paris Saint-Germain initially on loan from Monaco in 2017, which was later converted into a permanent deal. The transfer played an important role in both the player and the Club's growth.

But ever since he joined the Parisians, a move to Real Madrid looked imminent at some point in his career. When the question arose in both Madrid and Paris, the result was a long-lasting transfer saga that ended in 2024 with the Frenchman moving to Real Madrid for a free transfer.

Mbappe's relationship with PSG started deteriorating since his decision to not make a move to the Saudi Pro League and his refusal to sign a contract extension with Paris which carried on for almost two years as he was left out from PSG's squad for their tour of Asia in 2023 and after that missed out their first match of the campaign of the 2023-24 season.

As it seems the dispute between the two parties has not ended as of yet as a recent ruling by a Paris Labour court has ordered PSG to pay former striker Kylian Mbappe €60 million (£52.5m) in unpaid salary and bonuses.

The issue was subjudice for some time now as the 26-year-old Real Madrid forward claimed a sum of €263 million as damages in response to a contract dispute and ill-treatment by the club.

Although the court awarded just over a fifth of that amount on Tuesday as they recognised that PSG had failed to pay three months of his salary between April and June 2024 as well as an ethics bonus and a signing bonus under his contract.

A statement from Mbappe's legal team read, "This judgement confirms that commitments entered into must be honoured. It restores a simple truth: even in the professional football industry, labour law applies to everyone. Mr. Mbappe, for his part, scrupulously respected his sporting and contractual obligations for seven years, right up to the final day."

According to reports Paris Saint-Germain will most likely appeal the decision for reconsideration in a higher court as the club had been seeking compensation for Mbappe's failed €300m transfer to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in 2023.

Despite being PSG's all-time leading scorer, with 256 goals in 308 games, including 44 goals in 48 matches in his final season, the 26-year-old superstar has seemingly dampened not only his relationship with the club management but he has also marred his legendary status at the club due to his actions during his final years in Paris.
