For AFC Bournemouth supporters, any prospect of being able to enjoy a drink while watching the Cherries from the stands at Dean Court could be off the cards, with a proposal "unlikely" to become a reality.

Sky News political editor Sam Coates, advice from Whitehall has highlighted a potential problem, in that allowing alcohol in football stands could give police forces grounds to argue that the additional cost of policing matches should no longer be covered through general taxation.

So, for Bournemouth fans, therefore, the prospect of enjoying a pint from their seat at the Vitality Stadium may remain some way off, but according to a recent Roundtable poll over 59% were not for it - and another 15% would only welcome it under strict conditions.
