Following a disappointing 5-1 thrashing by Chelsea at the weekend, changes will need to be made to Marco Rose's starting team in Cherries first ever home Europa League game. But, who deserves to be given a place in the team?
AFC Bournemouth return to Europa League action this evening against Sturm Graz, looking to bounce back from their disappointing 5-1 defeat to Chelsea. Marco Rose must make necessary changes, balancing squad rotation with the importance of securing a positive result in Europe.
Here is my predicted starting XI, from goalkeeper to striker, with reasons behind each selection.
1. Djordje Petrovic – Goalkeeper
Petrovic should retain his place between the posts, offering Bournemouth a reliable last line of defence. Following the Chelsea defeat, his shot-stopping and organisation will be crucial tonight.

Truffert's energy and overlapping runs provide attacking width, while his defensive discipline remains essential. His ability to contribute at both ends makes him an important selection for this European fixture.
3. Antonio Silva – Centre-back
Silva should start as Bournemouth look to rebuild confidence after their defensive collapse. His composure, reading of danger and ability to play forward could help establish greater control against Sturm Graz.
4. James Hill – Centre-back
Hill deserves another opportunity to demonstrate his defensive reliability and concentration. Bournemouth need stronger communication, better positioning and greater aggression in duels after Chelsea exposed weaknesses that cannot continue into Europe.
5. Adam Smith – Right-back
Smith's experience and leadership make him an important selection for this European occasion. His defensive awareness should help settle the backline, while his communication can keep teammates organised under pressure.
IMAGO / Every Second Media 6. Ryan Christie – Central midfield
Christie's work rate, pressing intensity and ability to carry possession could provide the midfield energy Bournemouth lacked against Chelsea. He needs to prove himself following the absence of Alex Scott, and tonight is the perfect chance for that.
7. Tyler Adams – Defensive midfield
Adams offers the protection Bournemouth desperately need in front of their defence. Rotating with Lewis Cook if Cherries look comfortable will also be necessary to avoid him being burnt out for Sundays game vs Sunderland.
8. Marcus Tavernier – Left wing
Tavernier struggled to get into the game on Saturday, but adds valuable experience and versatility to the attack, and can be rotated with the returning Justin Kluivert or Amine Adli to keep him fresh for Sunday.
9. Alex Toth – Attacking midfield
Toth deserves an opportunity to bring fresh energy and technical quality into Bournemouth's midfield. His passing and movement between the lines could help unlock Sturm Graz and provide him with much needed minutes from the off.
IMAGO / Pro Sports Images10. Ben Gannon-Doak – Right wing
Gannon-Doak's pace, direct dribbling and willingness to attack defenders makes him an exciting selection. It also gives Rayan a chance for a much needed rest and a chance to impact the game off the bench if needed.
11. Evanilson – Striker
Evanilson should lead the line, using his movement, pressing and penalty-box instincts to trouble Sturm Graz. Bournemouth need their centre-forward involved early, providing a focal point and converting the chances created.
Making substitutions around the hour mark, or earlier if the game is won for the likes of Adams, Tavernier, Evanilson and Truffert should also be prioritised ahead of a must win game against Sunderland on Sunday.
