Alex Scott has been right at the centre of Bournemouth’s incredible run, and his goal against Arsenal summed up his form - full of energy, quality and belief. Andoni Iraola was quick to praise his positive form, but the ever humble Scott was quick to commend his "brilliant" team-mates too...

As the 2025/26 Premier League season reaches its climax, at the heart of Bournemouth's incredible unbeaten run has been the  22-year-old "Guernsey Grealish" - Alex Scott.

What began as a promising first full season in the top flight has blossomed into something truly special: a breakout year that has, pundits, his manager, but also himself - finally realising the special form he is in.

Scott’s blend of energy, technical quality and relentless work-rate has made him the heartbeat of Andoni Iraola’s side, and nowhere was his sensational form more emphatically on display than in Bournemouth’s memorable victory over the Gunners.

He scored the decisive goal, completed 89% of his passes (including several defence-splitting balls into the final third), won 11 duels, made four key interceptions and covered over 12 kilometres of ground.

His ability to transition from defensive anchor to attacking threat left Arsenal’s midfield, and even Declan Rice, looking sluggish by comparison, helping Bournemouth secure a statement win that underlined their remarkable progress this season.

Speaking on AFCBTV, he suggested that the win for Bournemouth was "massive", and whilst recognising his own excellent form, he was quick to praise his team-mates - particularly in defence.

"A massive win. One of the toughest places to come in the league. They're top of the league, the best team in the league. So it's a big statement for us and it puts us in good stead going into the final run-in of the season".

"We were in quite a lot over international break and leading into the game, working on a lot of things. Like I said, they're a brilliant football team and we had to be at our best to beat them. We worked hard during the week and where we could, play well against them and take the points. So, yeah, really happy with that. Happy with how we performed both boxes. I think defensively we were brilliant. Defending set pieces, which they're obviously really good at. To a man today, I think we were superb and definitely deserved the three points".

"We can definitely compete with these top teams on any given day. We know our quality and we know how good we can be. It's just, finding that consistency. They're obviously a brilliant team, a brilliant midfield. So it's always a tough game. I'm happy to score the goal and come away with the three points. It wasn't just me who played well today, It was the whole team. It was a collective. And that's what you need when you come to stadiums like this, against teams like this. You need every single man performing at their best. And that's what happened today"

Speaking in The Daily Echo, Andoni Iraola also hailed Alex Scott's impact on the game, suggesting that his consistency all season, has been exemplary:

"I think he deserved this moment of scoring the goal, celebrating in the corner with the fans, receiving the recognition that he deserves. He has been playing, not just lately, I think consistently all the season at a very, very high level".

“And I am sure these goals in this situation, in this moment, will help him receive back a little bit of this recognition that he fully deserves"

Bournemouth fans too, have been loving his recent impact in a Cherries shirt, and were quick to heap praise on the centre-midfielder after the game - whilst also being realistic that the club's own buy-low sell-high policy, may mean that Boscombe could well be at the mercy of the circling vultures sooner rather than later.
