Since arriving at the club in August 2023, the excitement around Bournemouth to witness the potential rise of Alex Scott has been high, he felt destined for big things. A number of significant injuries have hampered the speed of his progression, but there's no doubt he has now cemented himself as a crucial part of an impressive Cherries squad.

Early Hype

Prior to his move to the Cherries, Scott had already built a reputation as one of England’s most exciting young midfielders, a player many believed had a remarkably high ceiling from the off.

Most of that early excitement was forged during his time at Bristol City, where he broke into the first team as a teenager and quickly began dictating games and becoming a shining light in the Championship. Despite his age, Scott played with composure well beyond his years, showing an ability to receive the ball under pressure, glide past opponents, and carry possession through midfield with purpose.

He technically stood out immediately, with his close control, balance, and ability to manipulate the ball in tight spaces drawing comparisons to players far more experienced, even dubbed the 'Guernsey Grealish' by some. His vision and passing range allowed him to influence games both in deeper areas and higher up the pitch.

So by the time Bournemouth successfully secured his signature, the sense was clear that this wasn’t just a talented youngster, but a player with the tools to at the very least develop into a well established Premier League midfielder.

Becoming Instrumental For The Cherries

This season has certainly felt like a turning point for Alex Scott on the south coast. After an injury disrupted first year or so at the club, 2025/26 is the campaign where Scott has truly arrived. He’s become a near ever present in a competitive midfield, playing over 2,000 league minutes and establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. What’s elevated him even further is how he’s managing to influence games beyond just the raw numbers. While his returns of goals and assists may remain somewhat modest, his overall performance level has been consistently high, with strong match ratings and underlying metrics that highlight his consistent contribution to the team.

What once looked like potential is now production, and Scott isn’t just fitting into the Premier League but he’s now shaping games within it. His crucial goal at the Emirates this weekend felt symbolic of his rise.

He's evolving into one of the leagues most impressive and complete young midfielders that Bournemouth now rely on every week, and maybe even England in the near future.
