AFC Bournemouth star Alex Scott has been named in Thomas Tuchel’s provisional England World Cup squad after a standout season that also earned him the Cherries’ April Player of the Month award amid interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

Bournemouth Player of the Month Alex Scott Sparks Transfer Interest

Fresh from being named AFC Bournemouth’s Player of the Month for April, Alex Scott’s remarkable rise continues to gather pace, with the midfielder reportedly included in Thomas Tuchel’s provisional England squad for the upcoming World Cup while also attracting serious interest from Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea.

As Bournemouth fight to keep hold of one of their brightest young talents, Scott’s growing reputation is quickly making him one of the most talked-about midfielders in English football.

According to reports, Tuchel has submitted his provisional England squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup, with Scott believed to be among the 55-man long list permitted by FIFA. The tournament, which begins on 11 June across the USA, Canada and Mexico, will see England boss Tuchel trim his squad down to a final 26-man group before the official announcement later this month.

For Scott, inclusion in the provisional setup would mark another major milestone in what has been a breakthrough campaign at AFC Bournemouth. The midfielder has enjoyed an exceptional season on the south coast and capped off a particularly impressive April by being voted the Cherries’ Player of the Month.

The former Bristol City youngster has continued to develop rapidly under Andoni Iraola, combining technical quality with relentless energy in midfield. His performances have showcased his ability to drive forward through pressure, carry the ball aggressively into attacking areas, and contribute defensively with intensity and work rate.

Having previously been called up by Tuchel for England duty in November, the Bournemouth star was left out of the squad for the clash against Serbia and remained an unused substitute during the trip to Albania. However, his latest inclusion in the provisional World Cup plans suggests he remains firmly in the manager’s thinking.

Away from international football, Scott’s form has also sparked growing transfer interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs. Manchester United are believed to be admirers of the midfielder, while Chelsea have also reportedly been monitoring his progress closely.

United, who are expected to appoint former Middlesbrough boss, and current interim - Michael Carrick as their permanent manager, are said to view Scott as an ideal fit for their midfield rebuild.

Nicknamed the “Guernsey Grealish” by some supporters due to his dribbling style and creativity, Scott offers a modern midfield profile that is increasingly sought after at the highest level. He combines flair with tactical discipline, covers ground effectively, and has added greater composure and end product to his game this season.

Despite the growing speculation surrounding his future, Bournemouth are determined to keep hold of the 21-year-old.

As it stands, there is a lingering uncertainty that remains over whether he'll commit his long-term future to the Cherries. Should he decide against signing fresh terms, Bournemouth may eventually be forced to consider substantial offers from interested clubs.

However, reports from the BBC suggest the club are actively working on a new contract in an effort to fend off interest from elsewhere following his recent England recognition. A release clause would potentially be inserted into any new deal, providing both player and club peace of mind ahead of what could be an extraordinary season in 2026/27.

For now though, Scott’s focus appears firmly on finishing the season strongly with Bournemouth while continuing to push for a place in England’s final World Cup squad. Regardless of what happens next, his rapid emergence this season has firmly established him as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young midfield talents.
