Zinedine Zidane's opening fixture as the manager of the French national team was a successful one as his France side defeated a spirited Turkey side 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League.
A controlled first half display from the French, though under incessant pressure Turkey were able to cling on until the half time whistle. Turkey loomed large in the second half, and were left to rue squandering a glut of chances when the main man Kylian Mbappe came to the fore in the 54th minute to give his side the advantage, and ultimately the winner on the night.
Despite all the positives, Mbappe has been ruled out for this rest of this international period, after injuring himself during the goal. The Real Madrid striker scored a record extending 67th goal for France from Michael Olise's pass to secure the 1-0 win, but he was limping immediately and had to be replaced five minutes later.

The all action full back was handed a starting role in France’s 1-0 victory over Turkey and produced a composed and classy performance across the full 90 minutes, providing another reminder of why he earned his international recall in the first place. Truffert’s call up came as a reward for an impressive start to the season with the Cherries, and since arriving at Bournemouth, the Frenchman has continued to grow in confidence and influence on the side.
Against Turkey, Truffert looked comfortable defensively while offering France an outlet down the left side. Completing the entire game was significant in itself, particularly in a competitive international fixture, but the manner of his display will have been just as encouraging.
