The Netherlands - Justin Kluivert

Justin Kluivert finally made his first appearance of the 2026 World Cup as the Netherlands wrapped up top spot in Group F with a 3-1 victory over Tunisia.

The Cherries attacker had been forced to watch from the sidelines during the Netherlands draw with Japan and in their win over Sweden, but was handed his tournament debut from the bench as Ronald Koeman rotated his squad with qualification already secured. The Dutch finished the group stage unbeaten, collecting seven points to edge out Japan on goal difference after both sides ended level on points. Former Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake made his first start in the game with Tunisia too, the ex Cherry has also been linked with a return to the south coast this summer.

Finishing top means the Netherlands will now face Morocco in the Round of 32 on Monday, which will undoubtedly be a tough test for Koeman's men.

While Kluivert has had to remain patient, his introduction against Tunisia could prove significant. With the games now coming thick and fast, Koeman is likely to rely on the depth of his squad, and the Bournemouth attacker offers pace, direct running and versatility across the forward line which could be pivotal late on in matches.

Having now got some valuable minutes under his belt and shaken off any tournament rust, Justin will hope to force his way into contention as the stakes rise. Albeit unlikely to start against Morocco, the Cherries man could still very much have an important role to play as the Netherlands bid to mount a serious challenge for World Cup glory.

USA - Tyler Adams

Tyler Adams was given a more than deserved rest as the Americans slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Turkey in their final Group D match, with Mauricio Pochettino opting to protect one of his key men after qualification had already been secured.

Having already wrapped up top spot in the group, the USA had little riding on the contest, allowing Pochettino to rotate his squad ahead of the knockout stages. Adams' absence only highlighted his importance, with the Cherries midfielder widely regarded as the heartbeat of the American side thanks to his leadership, defensive discipline and relentless work rate.

Tyler will now be expected to return to the side for their round of 32 tie with Bosnia, where his experience and ability to control the midfield will no doubt be crucial. Fresh after being rested, the Bournemouth enforcer should be in prime condition as the USA begin the business end of their World Cup campaign, with hopes of a deep run likely to largely depend on their influential midfielder remaining fit and firing.
