Manchester United are hardly facing Bournemouth in the best of spirits. Michael Carrick is already feeling the pressure, performances have been far from convincing, and the mood around Old Trafford remains distinctly sour. Captain Bruno Fernandes has cut an increasingly frustrated figure, while supporters continue to voice their discontent at a club that seems to lurch from one problem to another. That could make Cherries' Sunday opponents particularly vulnerable. Bournemouth will know that United still possess plenty of individual quality, but with confidence seemingly fragile and pressure mounting, Marco Rose’s side will fancy their chances of exploiting the cracks.

Man Utd Season So Far

Manchester United's campaign has quickly become a frustrating exercise for supporters who have grown accustomed to disappointment in recent years. Despite the optimism that surrounded the club heading into the season, performances have failed to match expectations, and head coach Michael Carrick is already facing uncomfortable questions about his future.

In the Premier League, United have struggled to find the consistency required to challenge towards the top end of the table. There have been flashes of individual quality, but too often the team has looked short of cohesion, confidence and attacking rhythm. For a club of United's stature, simply competing for a place in Europe is no longer enough to satisfy a fanbase desperate to see its side return to the elite. That struggle has been underlined by a worrying run of results. United have managed just one win in their opening seven Premier League matches, leaving them 13th with seven points. Draws against Fulham, Tottenham and Leeds have done little to ease the frustration, while defeats have exposed familiar weaknesses.

Players To Watch

Despite Manchester United's recent struggles, the Red Devils still possess plenty of attacking quality capable of hurting Bournemouth on Sunday. The Cherries cannot afford to be complacent against a side desperate to respond to their disappointing Champions League defeat to Como.

Even when frustrated, Bruno Fernandes can unlock defences with incisive passing, clever movement and dangerous deliveries into the box. Giving him time and space around the penalty area could prove costly. Add to that Bryan Mbuemo, who is another major threat. The forward has made a decent enough start to the Premier League campaign, scoring four goals in seven appearances. His pace, movement and eye for goal make him a player Bournemouth's defence must monitor closely. Amad Diallo probably also deserves attention. His direct dribbling and ability to beat defenders one on one can create openings, particularly when United transition quickly from defence to attack.
