After breaking into Canada’s plans and earning a place in recent squads, Cherries forward Daniel Jebbison has been left out of the nation’s World Cup squad. A real setback for the forward who showed some positive signs for his nation, but not quite enough to make Jesse Marsch's latest squad.

Despite a patchy spell on loan at Preston, Jebbison would have been hoping he'd shown enough to be a part of Jesse Marsch's immediate plans ahead of the World Cup. Having been in previous Canada squad's and performed admirably, it's a real blow to the striker who's future with Bournemouth also seems to be in the balance.

Following the recent surprise omission from Argentina's World Cup squad for Marcos Senesi, the fact Daniel Jebbison has failed to make the cut for Canada will be a real disappointment to the Cherries. Following a couple of loans to the Championship, Bournemouth have remained hopeful that Jebbison can continue to show the potential and promise that made the club secure his signature in the summer of 2024.

Loan Move At Preston

After a disappointing loan spell with Watford the previous campaign, Jebbison was given another opportunity in the Championship to perform. It was a frustrating spell at Preston for Daniel, who showed plenty of positives signs but getting a good run of games was hampered by injuries. Once returning to the Cherries from Watford, the frontman managed to score the last ever FA Cup goal at Goodison Park against Everton, as well as netting in the Premier League against Manchester City. That definitely set Jebbison up well for his Preston loan, and despite injuries he still managed to notch a decent six goals for the Championship side.

Preston fans seemingly liked a lot of what they saw from the striker, albeit were left frustrated by his lack of consistency, much being down to his constant injury setbacks.

The Future For Jebbison

The forward certainly faces a pivotal summer in his Bournemouth career as the club enters a new era under new head coach Marco Rose. After arriving on a free transfer from Sheffield United back in 2024, the striker has yet to establish himself on the south coast, with the couple of loans away from the club hoping to allow Jebbison to gain valuable first team experience and game time.

Marco Rose's arrival could offer Jebbison a fresh start. New managers often like to reasses players with an open mind, and the young striker could well have the chance to impress during pre-season. His pace, athleticism and ability to play across the front line could appeal to a coach who is known for demanding energy and intensity from his forwards. The added element of the Cherries competing in Europe for the first time, may also allow Jebbison to be a useful part of a squad that will no doubt need to rotate throughout the campaign.
