Tyler Adams - USA

An impressive 4-1 victory over Paraguay gave the United States the perfect start to their home World Cup campaign, with Cherries midfielder Tyler Adams at the heart of the performance. As he so often does, Adams provided the energy, discipline and leadership that allowed the USA’s attacking talent to flourish, repeatedly breaking up play and driving his side forward. His composed display helped set the tone for a commanding win that immediately established the Americans as serious contenders in Group D.

Ben Gannon Doak and Ryan Christie - Scotland

Scotland opened their World Cup campaign with a crucial 1-0 victory over Haiti, taking an early step towards the knockout stages. Bournemouth winger Ben Gannon Doak impressed, providing a constant attacking threat through his pace and direct running all game. Ryan Christie would have been disappointed not to start, but his introduction in the latter stages helped Scotland get over the line, adding that relentless energy that Ryan is well known for.

Rayan - Brazil

Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco in their World Cup opener, a frustrating result for one of the tournament favourites but far from a damaging one. Cherries young star Rayan remained an unused substitute, yet the teenager could still have a significant role to play. With a packed schedule and Brazil's wealth of attacking options likely to be rotated, opportunities should come as the tournament progresses. Even without minutes in the opener, Rayan remains well placed to make his mark on football’s biggest stage.

Justin Kluivert - Netherlands

The Netherlands were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with Japan in an entertaining fixture, leaving plenty of work still to do in Group F. Bournemouth attacker Justin Kluivert was an unused substitute, but the tournament is only just beginning and he'll be expecting to still have some valuable minutes to make an impact. His ability to change games from the bench could yet prove vital as the Dutch look to turn promising performances into victories. With at least two group matches remaining, Kluivert remains firmly in the picture for a key role.

Alex Paulsen - New Zealand

New Zealand will be content after performing well in their 2-2 draw against Iran in their opening World Cup fixture. Cherries young goalkeeper Alex Paulsen spent last season impressing on loan at Lechia Gdansk, but remained on the bench for his national team. While he currently appears to be the All Whites' number two, there is still a long way to go in the tournament. Conceding two goals would have been somewhat of a concern, and Paulsen’s presence in the squad ensures New Zealand have a highly rated option ready if they decide to mix it up in between the sticks.
