The Carabao Cup quarter-final draw takes place on Wednesday evening and Chelsea will be hoping they are one of the eight sides in the draw.

Xabi Alonso's side will play their fourth-round tie on Wednesday night, as they head to Anfield to face Liverpool, who are currently on a four-game winning streak.

It sees the Chelsea head coach return to his former side, a big occasion for the Spaniard who is eyeing to bounce back at the first attempt following their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Spurs were the side Liverpool defeated to set up their fourth-round tie with Chelsea. Alonso's Blues also knocked out a top-flight opponent before their trip to Merseyside was confirmed, coming from behind to claim a thrilling 6-3 win over Leeds United last month.

Chelsea will need to claim their first win at Anfield since March 2021 if they want to progress past the Reds, who have won the League Cup on more occasions than any other club.

They have a positive record against Liverpool in cup competitions. Chelsea are unbeaten in four (two wins, two draws) cup matches at Anfield - League Cup and UEFA Champions League - since a 1-0 Champions League semi-final defeat in 2007, when Alonso played for Liverpool.

Many Premier League clubs remain in the competition. Arsenal suffered a shock exit to Fleetwood Town on penalties, while Manchester City play host to Brighton and Hove Albion in an all top-flight affair.

Bradford City knocked out Peterborough United to book their place in the quarters.

Quarter-final ties are scheduled to be played in the week commencing December 14.

Here are all the details ahead of Wednesday night's Carabao Cup quarter-final draw.

Ball numbers for the draw will be published on EFL channels on Wednesday.

Seven other fourth-round ties are taking place. Manchester City and Aston Villa are among the sides eyeing a quarter-final spot. The winners of Liverpool and Chelsea could face one of the teams below.
