Ahead of the quarter-final stage at this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, here are how things look for the Chelsea players in the competition.

Today, the 8th of July, is the first day since the 10th June without a game at this summer's FIFA World Cup. However, as quickly as tomorrow the quarter finals will get going. With it, there will be action for Chelsea players.

So, let's take a look at how it all looks for them.

To begin, Malo Gusto and France will take on Morocco in Foxborough on Thursday at 21:00 BST. As it stands, the Blues right-back has played just a total of 34 minutes throughout the competition, with three cameos off the bench. He is likely to be on the bench again for this one, but well, let's see.

On Friday, Mike Penders' Belgium side will take on Spain at 20:00 at the Sofi Stadium, Inglewood. They got to the quarter-finals after demolishing hosts USA 4-1 in Seattle. Spain defeated Pedro Neto's Portugal 1-0 in Arlington.

Then, on Saturday, Trevoh Chalobah and Reece James' England side will take on Norway in Miami at 22:00. The likelihood is that Chalobah will again be on the bench, but there is a hope that Reece James will return from injury to be fit for this one.

The Chelsea skipper has missed the last three games with an injury, and England have certainly missed him, despite their progression. He is even more needed now after the red card to stand in right-back Jarell Quansah during the 3-2 win over Mexico at the Azteca last time out.

To finish off the round of 16 games, Enzo Fernandez and Argentina will take on Switzerland in Kansas City, with that game set to take place on Sunday morning at 02:00.

As you will have seen by now, it was Fernandez himself who scored the winner for Argentina in the last round against Egypt. The defending Champions were 2-0 down with just 11 minutes of normal time remaining, but the Chelsea midfielder scored a superb header in stoppage time to complete the turnaround.

Now, some of you may not want to hear about the 25-year old, considering how clear it is that he wants to leave, but you never know what may happen, so we will continue the reporting for now. Once the tournament is over, things should begin to speed up on his future, either way. So let's see.

Ironically, he will be directly up against Granit Xhaka, who has been heavily linked with Chelsea this window. "There has been a goal scored by a midfielder who will play for Chelsea next season, but for who Chris Kamara?"

So, there you have it. The full quarter final slate for all of the five Chelsea players remaining in the competition.
