After the clash with the South Coast side had to be postponed due to FA Cup congestion, a new date and time have now officially been released to the public
After Saturday's more than comprehensive 7-0 victory at home to rock bottom of League One Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-finals, Chelsea's trip to Brighton and Hove Albion, which was scheduled for the 25th of April - FA Cup semi-final weekend - was postponed.
Instead, Chelsea will play Leeds United at Wembley on the same date in their semi-final, with a 15:00 BST kick-off. There is a long-standing rivalry with the West Yorkshire side dating back to the 1970's, and recent meetings suggest it will be a tough game.
Anyway, the date for the trip to the South Coast to face Brighton has now been confirmed, with the showdown taking place on Tuesday, the 21st of April, at 20:00 BST, with the game to be shown live on Sky Sports for those in the UK.
So, the schedule for the rest of the season currently looks like: Manchester City (H), 12th April at 16:30 BST, Manchester United (H) on Saturday the 18th at 20:00 BST, before the aforementioned clashes with Brighton and Leeds.
After the FA Cup semi-final, there is a rare midweek early kick-off, as Liam Rosenior's side welcome Nottingham Forest on Monday, the 4th of May at 15:00 BST as part of a bank holiday in the UK.
This will be followed by a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday, the 9th, at 12:30 BST. Now, this is where it gets slightly more complicated. As it stands, Chelsea are set to host Spurs on Sunday, the 17th at 15:00 BST.
However, should the Blues progress past Leeds in the semi-final, they will take part in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, the 16th of May, with kick-off time still to be confirmed.
So, the game with Spurs will have to be rescheduled. If the team is in the final, we will know on the 25th of April, which gives a few weeks to find a new date. It will probably be played a few days after the semi-final - on either the 28th or 29th of April.
This is because it will be impossible to fit the game between the Forest and Liverpool showdowns, and would the team really want a midweek game a few days before an FA Cup final? Certainly not. Though they may not get a say. After the final, they will finish the season with a trip to Sunderland on the final day, the 24th of May at 16:00 BST
