The latest updates on Chelsea in the transfer window as of the 2nd of July, including the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Alejandro Garnacho and Granit Xhaka.
Amidst the chaos of the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, you may be forgiven for letting news regarding Chelsea and the transfer window slip the net.
Well don’t worry, as here is your latest update on all things Chelsea as of Thursday, the 2nd of July 2026. Let’s take a look.
To begin, James Copley of the Sunderland Echo is reporting that Chelsea will make a second bid for Granit Xhaka, said to be worth “£10m-£12.5m + add ons” with Sunderland’s stance unchanged - he is not for sale.
Meanwhile, earlier on today, we aggregated some comments made by Javier Pastore, the agent of Enzo Fernandez, to Spanish outlet MARCA. Well, it appears as if he is at it again.
Indeed so, as he has spoken to fellow Spanish outlet, Diario AS, saying: “Yes, Real Madrid has sounded out for him, He is a player that Real Madrid likes and he likes Real Madrid, as he also likes other clubs that are there.
Now we have to wait a little while. At this moment I prefer that he be focused on trying to win another World Cup, there will be time to talk [after the tournament].”
The former PSG midfielder continued: “He has done very well at Chelsea. He has won titles in three and a half years. He is very happy, but there comes a time when you have to follow the player's path and if he demands things that the club cannot get, you have to look for solutions…”
Oh, you think he was done there? Not quite. To finish off, the agent said: “There are clubs that will be able to do it and there are others that will cost them a little more. We will be available and working to try to reach an understanding.
If you look at the transfers in the last few days, they are all for 90 or 100 million euros. The prices of the players are very high and his is surely very high too, but that's why he has shown, grown and created in these years, and that's why he has that value.”
In general, just some bizarre comments. It sounds like if he can’t sign for Real Madrid, he would be happy to go to Atletico Madrid, just so long as he lives in the Spanish capital. As has been said several times, the sooner it is over, the better.
Elsewhere, according to Alfredo Pedulla, Serie A outfit AS Roma have asked for information regarding Alejandro Garnacho. Safe to say that deal hasn’t worked out, so would be no bad thing to get him off the books.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan are "working on" Trevoh Chalobah. There are contacts ongoing with the player, who is "totally open" to joining. Chelsea have rejected Como's bid, and are insisting on £35m.
Finally, Ben Jacobs is reporting that Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni could be available for a fee worth around £70m. The player wants to stay at the La Liga side, but he could be used to make funds available for Fernandez. A potential cash + player swap on the cards?
