The cult hero and popular social media star has not minced his words when talking about his displeasure at the current situation regarding Chelsea

If you are someone who consumes lots of social media, particularly as a Chelsea fan, then it is almost impossible for you to have missed the sheer amount of John Obi Mikel content doing the rounds of late.

The former Blues midfielder has became an internet meme with several quotes from his Obi One podcast being clipped up and used as reaction memes for particular situations.

It has to be said, plenty of them are extremely funny. There is no doubt that he is a funny character with what he says and the way he articulates himself. Particularly how he says 'mate'.

However, he does often make good points on his podcast too. Recently, the 38-year old was speaking about the current situation in SW6, and how much it hurts him: "When you look at the football club right now from top to bottom, nothing seems to be going well.

Absolutely nothing seems to be going well. What is the objective? The worst thing you can do as a football club is to accept, accept and be like 'okay, we accept this is where we are right now, this who we are becoming'.

I think that's the worst mistake you can make. It's not okay, it's not fine. Chelsea football club is not that club. This is a football club that has been built as a machine, to win, to keep winning. To keep being successful.

In the past few years, the acceptancy of becoming this yo-yo football club is what is happening right now. Last week we talked about it, from top to bottom - the top obviously the owners - trickles down to the manager, to the players.

If it's not working at the top, [then] the people at the top are not there for the right reasons. The people at the top doesn't give a sh-t if the teams wins or whatever. What they care about is something else - (and) then it's becoming a different football club."

Some strong comments, conveyed in a passionate way by the former Nigerian international. You have to say, it's true. There seems to be an acceptance by certain groups that the past few years have been even remotely good enough, when that is not the case.

During his time in West London, Mikel won everything - the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Champions League. As someone who was part of a very successful Chelsea team, it must hurt him to see the current state of the club.
