After what has been a very productive and fruitful time away from the club, Chelsea first team player is open to leaving the club on one simple condition

At the end of the January transfer window, Chelsea defender Axel Disasi made the trip across the capital to join West Ham United on loan in order to get some game time under his belt.

The Frenchman has made a significant impact since joining. The Hammers have had a huge uptick in performances over the last couple of months, and, having spent the vast majority of the season inside the bottom 3, they now reside two points above Tottenham Hotspur and look on course to make the great escape against all odds.

When at Chelsea - and even during his loan at Aston Villa during the second half of last season - Disasi was tasked with defending space high up the pitch, something he is clearly not comfortable at doing.

However, at West Ham, under the management of Nuno, he is able to defend in a low block, and excel at defending his own penalty area with his excellent box defending. This system hides his flaws and platforms his best attributes.

Well, according to The Athletic, provided the team stays in the Premier League next season, Disasi would like to extend his stay in East London. It was not said if that was with another loan, or on a permanent deal.

You have to say that a permanent deal would suit everybody. At 28-years old, the defender could probably do without just being farmed on loan every single season. Chelsea would be able to get a fee, and West Ham would have clarity on his future. It makes much more sense than yet another loan deal for him.

It sounds like Disasi is very happy playing under Nuno. As touched on earlier, his style of play is very suited to him. But also, as per the above article from The Athletic, the Portuguese manager convinced him to sign for the club over Italian giants AC Milan, and they enjoy a good relationship.

Interestingly, it is mentioned how Unai Emery and Villa would play the France international as a right-back, and that he was uncomfortable with it, wanting to make sure it didn't happen again - making the talks with Nuno even more crucial.

So, it good to see he has found himself a new home. Let's hope West Ham can stay in the Premier League and he can make the London Stadium his permanent home. Particularly as that would perhaps likely mean that Spurs are relegated.
