The Toffees demand a record-breaking £20m for the former Aston Villa midfielder as Hull City and Ipswich Town battle to secure the youngster’s signature this summer.

Everton have set their asking price for midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, with recently promoted Hull City showing an interest in securing his signature.

Iroegbunam made the move to Everton back in 2024 from Aston Villa in a deal that saw Lewis Dobbin go the other way. It was a deal that appeared to help Aston Villa and Everton financially when it came to PSR calculations, with the Toffees seemingly benefiting the most.

The 22-year-old midfielder played 29 times in the Premier League last season and was a key squad player under David Moyes.

The former Aston Villa man has struggled to become a guaranteed starter when everyone is fit, meaning there is a chance they look to cash in during the summer transfer window.

Iroegbunam has just one year remaining on his contract, so Everton have a decision to make this summer as to whether to extend his deal or offload him.

Everton set Iroegbunam asking price

According to a report from Hull Live, Everton have set an asking price of £20m for Iroegbunam this summer, despite him only having one year remaining on his contract.

Hull are one of the sides keen on signing the midfielder, and the £20m asking price isn't believed to be an issue.  Everton are open to allowing Iroegbunam to leave the club this summer, but Hull aren't the only side showing an interest.

Ipswich Town are also believed to be keen with interest in the 22-year-old, described as significant.

If Hull were to pay a fee of £20 million for the former Aston Villa man, that would be a record signing for the newly promoted club. A new contract for Iroegbunam does feel unlikely, given there is interest in him this summer, as it would certainly make sense to cash in if they can make a significant profit.

It's claimed that Everton only paid £9m to bring Iroegbunam to Merseyside, so doubling their money would be a smart financial move from the club.

Iroegbunam out, Hackney in?

If Everton can receive a fee in the region of £20 million and use that to buy Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, it would certainly be good business from the Toffees.

Reports have suggested that Everton are willing to pay in the region of £20 million to bring Hackney to the club. You could certainly argue that he would be an upgrade on Iroegbunam.

The potential signing of Hackney was always going to create doubts over the future of Iroegbunam. A sale makes perfect sense if Hull are willing to meet Everton's asking price.

The situation around Hackney has gone fairly quiet in recent weeks, and it's clear to see Everton are trying to negotiate a lower fee. The sale of Iroegbunam could prompt Everton to push the button on Hackney, especially if both deals can get done for £20 million.

It would be a good move for all parties, with Iroegbunam remaining in the Premier League and likely to become a regular starter at Hull City, considering he could become their record signing.
