Cody Gakpo has been taken off early in the first half for the Netherlands, as fans await to hear the extent of any possible injury and how it may impact Liverpool going forward.
For the second time in a short space of time, Liverpool have been dealt another worrying blow, as Cody Gakpo was subbed early in the Netherlands' clash with Serbia.
This is undoubtedly a major concern for both country and club, with the Netherlands currently beginning a new era, with former Barcelona player and manager Xavi taking on the role of Dutch head coach.
REUTERS/Marko DjuricaGakpo has started in both of the Spanish coach's opening two matches in charge of the Euro 1988 winners.
And in club football, Cody Gakpo had started this season surprisingly well, given how poor a season he had for LFC last season, and with rumours constantly swirling regarding a summer departure for the 27-year-old.
Despite the torrid amount of abuse he took throughout last campaign, he has come into this one firing for the Reds, contributing to over half of Andoni Iraola's side's Premier League goals, quickly becoming an integral part of the squad.
So, with the winger in red-hot form and his club and country relying on him, the news that he has been taken off due to a suspected knock/injury after a heavy tackle will cause major concern in both fanbases, but more pressingly in the Liverpool one.

This news follows the club's announcement that Alexander Isak had withdrawn from the Sweden squad due to a minor injury, with the medical staff back in Merseyside set to examine it further to see how long the club could be missing their star striker.
It was later confirmed by Swedish head coach Graham Potter that Isak's injury was a minor thigh issue, and due to the amount of games the national team are set to play in a short space of time, it was decided that Isak would be best served returning to Liverpool.

Playing the central striker role is one that is familiar to Gakpo and is probably now known as his 'secondary position'.
Now that both Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak have picked up injuries, it leaves Liverpool very light on options in the striker role, with Bradley Barcola and young Lewis Koumas the only two who have any experience of playing the role.
