Liverpool's top priority signing looks just out of reach, but could PSG and the Reds come to an agreement and bridge the current valuation gap for French forward Bradley Barcola?

It is no secret that Liverpool's desire to sign an elite winger this summer is very high, and this has meant that everyone's eyes have been kept on who LFC would highlight as their top target, and it would appear that Bradley Barcola is that man.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that club-to-club talks between PSG and Liverpool had begun in recent days and that the desire to reach an agreement is there, with the player himself prioritising a move to Anfield.

This positivity towards a Barcola move to Anfield has only been heightened in recent days, with a report emerging today suggesting that there remains confidence that a deal is struck and that Liverpool gets their man.

A Willingness From All Parties To Get This Done

French journalist Loïc Tanzi has reported today that all parties at the negotiating table remain confident that a deal can be done and a solution that benefits LFC, PSG, and Bradley Barcola will be found.

The report goes on to say that PSG's valuation of the player remains at €150 million (£128 million) and while Liverpool are not willing to meet those demands, they are willing to get to around the €120 million (£103 million), so there is hope that a compromise can be met and that the final figure, should a deal be agreed will likely lie somewhere in the middle.

Senior PSG Officials Set To Join Negotiating Table

Loic Tanzi adds to this that PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is expected to take a hands-on approach to the ongoing Barcola negotiations and that he will become directly involved in the proceedings very soon.

It is said that Liverpool's owners and executives have a strong relationship with Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Furthermore, it is also highlighted by Loic Tanzi that Liverpool and PSG share the same minority shareholder, Arctos, which could aid key discussions when they are needed.

Author's Verdict

These reports are positive signs for LFC fans, as there appears to be a clear willingness from all involved to get this deal over the line, but when transfers involve such large sums of money, the finer details as well as the overarching final transfer fee involved can take time to come to an agreement on.

Additionally, talks are more likely to intensify, and the gap in valuation that currently exists may become smaller should PSG sign their primary winger targets, Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts.

But with the player already making it clear that a contract renewal is off the table and he has already given priority to the Reds and agreed personal terms, it seems the direction of travel when it comes to this transfer is only going one way.
