Alongside the primary area of improvement for LFC this summer, that being the right wing position, with Bradley Barcola as Liverpool's primary target.

But there are also other areas of the pitch that Andoni Iraola and Liverpool have identified as positions that need improving this summer window.

One of those is in defence and, more specifically, at right back. In theory, this shouldn't be a position that Liverpool needs to bring in further additions to this transfer window, as on paper, the club have three out-and-out right backs as well as Joe Gomez, who can play that position as well.

Why Do Liverpool Need To Strengthen At Right-Back?

However, Conor Bradley is out with a long-term injury at the moment, and even before picking up this injury, there were already concerns regarding Bradley's fitness as he kept picking up small muscle injuries, preventing him from getting any real momentum going.

Then you have Jeremie Frimpong, who, since he signed for the club last summer, has struggled to really cement his place in the starting eleven, whether that is due to poor form or more so his poor injury record.

Following his €35 million (£29.5 million) switch to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen, Frimpong has sustained five different injuries in his first campaign in Merseyside, which is more than his entire senior career before his move to Liverpool.

So, like Conor Bradley, based on his first season at the Reds at least, people are not massively confident in Jeremie Frimpong's ability to stay fit for the season, given he missed a total of 26 games for club and country last season, ultimately costing Frimpong a spot in Ronald Koeman's Dutch National Team Squad.

Calvin Ramsay is another option as an out-and-out right back; however, since he signed for Liverpool in 2022, he has never really been able to show himself as capable of being a first-team player for the Reds.

Furthermore, following unsuccessful loan spells at the likes of Wigan, Bolton and, most recently, Scottish League side Kilmarnock, it would appear either a sale or another loan move is most likely going into next season.

And finally, Joe Gomez, who has undoubtedly been a very good servant to Liverpool over the 11 years he has spent at the club, but in recent years has been plagued with injury issues, meaning he has been unable to be relied upon for a full season.

This is emphasised through the fact that within the first ten minutes of Liverpool's first pre-season fixture against Sunderland, Joe Gomez had to leave the field with another injury.

Who Are LFC Looking To Bring To Bolster The Defensive Ranks?

Sacha Tavolieri has exclusively revealed to LFC Transfer Room that Liverpool have shown an interest in two right backs in particular, Givairo Read and Djed Spence.

Givairo Read is a 20-year-old Dutch right back who currently plays for Eredivisie side Feyenoord. He has played two full seasons for the Dutch giants, providing 10 assists and five goals across those two seasons.

Givairo Read is also subject to interest from fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest this summer, who are also looking to strengthen in the right-back position.

Djed Spence is another player Sacha Tavolieri has stated LFC have expressed an interest in after being offered the England international to LFC. Barry Hunter, Chief Scout at LFC, is said to be someone who has put the player on the table as an option this summer.

Spence, as shown in his World Cup performances, has that tenacity and willingness to run up and down the pitch constantly for 90 minutes that would fit perfectly into how Liverpool and Andoni Iraola want to play this season.
