Liverpool fans have been provided with a series of fitness updates following the team's pre-Brighton training session this morning. Multiple players face a race against time to be fit for the weekend's Premier League clash, with others set for longer layoffs.

Fitness Race Ahead of Liverpool v Brighton

Liverpool face Brighton at Anfield this weekend. The south-coast side are in tremendous form and have scored the most goals in the Premier League whilst also conceding the joint-least.

Multiple Liverpool players face a race against time to be fit for the game, with one unlikely to feature again until after the November international break.

Injury Updates

Vinny O'Connor (Sky Sports), reporting from the AXA Training Centre this morning, has provided fresh updates on Bradley Barcola, Dominik Szoboszlai, Victor Munoz, and Jeremie Frimpong.

According to O'Connor, Bradley Barcola undertook an individual recovery session rather than full team training this morning. No particular issue has been confirmed, with individual training likely representing a preventative measure against the effects of fatigue.

Meanwhile, O'Connor expects Dominik Szoboszlai to be out for the next one to three matches as he continues to recover after aggravating an existing problem during Liverpool's 2-1 comeback win over Brentford. If Szoboszlai does miss the next three matches, he will be absent when Liverpool take on Brighton, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Victor Munoz was missing from team training again this morning after he also missed out ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash against Villarreal. The World Cup winner was seen in a knee brace following Liverpool's win at Brentford, in which he scored the Reds' crucial equalising goal. There has been no official confirmation about the nature of his potential injury, although Sky Sports describes it as a 'knock'.

Finally, O'Connor provided a timeline for Jeremie Frimpong's return after the right-back picked up a hamstring injury within minutes of coming on against Brentford. It is believed that Frimpong is looking at a four-week-long absence. This means that the Dutchman will not return until after the November international break.

Giovanni Leoni is still expected to return to training during the November international break, as Andoni Iraola recently confirmed, whilst Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike are expected back some time after the new year.

Author's Verdict: Barcola Absence Only a Precaution

Most of Sky Sports' injury updates were not unexpected, but if Bradley Barcola is not ready in time for Liverpool v Brighton, that would be a heavy blow for the Reds.

Luckily, it does feel likely that his separation from team training is precautionary and perhaps only a measure to ensure that he is available for the Premier League's weekend clash. The Frenchman has looked tired at the end of recent matches, particularly against Brentford, so it makes sense if the club and coaching staff are implementing bespoke plans to help him adapt to the Premier League's intensity.
