Liverpool’s recruitment team appear to have another Premier League attacker firmly on their radar, and Kevin Schade is beginning to look considerably more than just an interesting name on a scouting report.

According to Sky Sports⁠, Brentford have opened initial talks with the 24-year-old over a new long-term contract amid growing interest from Liverpool and Arsenal. 

Lyall Thomas reports that the two clubs were among those showing the strongest interest towards the end of the summer window, while Chelsea and Tottenham have also monitored him. 

Brentford’s desire to act is understandable. Schade has started the 2026/27 Premier League season with three goals from five appearances, playing 448 minutes and registering six shots on target from nine attempts.

He has started every league game for the Bees and is currently their leading league scorer. 

It isn’t simply a five-game purple patch either. The Germany international scored eight goals and provided three assists in 35 Premier League appearances last season, following 11 league goals in 2024/25.

Across all competitions for Brentford, Sky Sports puts his record at 25 goals and nine assists from 119 appearances. 

Schade possesses characteristics that make the link particularly intriguing. Predominantly operating from the left, he can also play centrally, giving Liverpool another flexible forward rather than someone tied to one position. His acceleration makes him dangerous attacking space behind a high defensive line, while at 6ft 1in he provides an aerial threat Liverpool’s other wide options don’t necessarily offer.

That combination has already hurt the Reds. Schade scored against Liverpool in Brentford’s 3-2 victory last season, racing into space before finishing to put the Bees 2-0 ahead. 

In Liverpool’s attack, you could imagine him starting wide before driving inside, but his ability to operate through the middle would also allow him to rotate with the likes of Alexander Isak. His direct running could be particularly useful when Liverpool want to transition quickly rather than patiently break down a defence.

There is no suggestion yet that Liverpool have made an offer, and Brentford are clearly attempting to strengthen their negotiating position. Schade’s existing deal runs until 2028, meaning they are under little immediate pressure to sell. 

But if Liverpool’s interest develops, this feels like one worth remembering. Schade is Premier League-proven, still only 24 and increasingly productive.

The question might soon become not whether he is ready for Liverpool, but how expensive Brentford can make him.
