Liverpool have reportedly seen a huge proposal for Yan Diomande rejected by RB Leipzig, with the Bundesliga club continuing to demand a record-level fee for the winger.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Yan Diomande seems to have taken a new turn, as the Reds have reportedly tested RB Leipzig’s resolve with a €100 million offer, but the German club declined.

Leipzig wants even more, closer to €120 million, for the 19-year-old attacker and the situation underscores Diomande’s high rating.

Liverpool’s Next Superstar Signing?

The scale of the reported bid reveals its significance as Liverpool aren’t looking for a squad option; they’re seeking the next face of their attack, and Diomande’s season at RB Leipzig and his impressive displays with Ivory Coast have elevated his reputation further.

With Mohamed Salah’s departure, the club needs younger players who can become elite performers in the coming years, and Diomande fits that vision.

The winger offers pace, direct running, creativity and the ability to play across the front line.

His performances have garnered attention across Europe, and Liverpool’s interest appears genuine.

Leipzig Playing Hardball

RB Leipzig will determined to retain one of their prized assets and in recent times, the Bundesliga side have highly scooped young talent and only sells when the valuation meets their expectations.

Diomande’s age and potential mean Leipzig believes his value will continue to rise.

His World Cup performances have only increased his attention, with more clubs likely to join the race, with Paris Saint-Germain and other European sides monitoring the Ivory Coast internationals situation.

Liverpool’s interest also aligns with their style of play as Andoni Iraola’s football emphasises intensity, aggressive pressing and attackers who can create danger individually.

Diomande’s ability to beat defenders and exploit space would seamlessly fit into that system, but the question is whether Liverpool is prepared for a significant investment.

A €120 million fee would be a statement, not just about Diomande but the club’s overall strategy, but about the direction of the new Liverpool era.

Author’s Verdict: Liverpool make the first move, but still a way to go to meet valuations

For now, negotiations remain ongoing, even though Leipzig have rejected Liverpool’s proposal, but that does not necessarily end the story.

The Reds have shown their interest and have made the first move to try and tie the player down, now the question is whether they believe Yan Diomande is worth the price required to bring him to Anfield.
