Liverpool v Tottenham Match Preview

Liverpool face Tottenham at Anfield for the Reds' third home game in a row. This one is in the Carabao Cup, with a place in the fourth round on the line. Following a draw against Fulham, Liverpool will be looking for a return to winning ways.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have had a poor start to the season (currently sitting 17th place in the Premier League table), and will be thinking a win at Anfield would be the perfect springboard to kick-start their season.

Liverpool Predicted Line-Up

In his press conference earlier today, Andoni Iraola revealed: "We will see [against Tottenham] players we haven't seen [so far this season]".

He also confirmed that Giorgi Mamardashvili "is going to start tomorrow" and that Joe Gomez "is available", but that "it's a matter of deciding how much he can play."

Based on this information, here is the LFC Transfer Room's predicted Liverpool XI for tomorrow night's Carabao Cup clash:

Giorgi Mamardashvili | Iraola confirmed that the Georgian keeper will start in goal for the first time this season.

Luke Chambers | Given Iraola's hint toward starting some fresh faces tomorrow night, Chambers could be given the nod after Kostas Tsimikas's poor performance against Fulham. He could fulfil the 'Ronald Araujo role' from left-back in a rotated side.

Virgil van Dijk | With limited options at centre-half, it would not be surprising to see the captain keep his place in the team.

Wataru Endo | Endo could be in line for his first appearance of the season, playing in central defence alongside Virgil van Dijk to give Ronald Araujo and Jeremy Jacquet a rest.

Jeremie Frimpong | Frimpong has not featured much for Liverpool in the last couple of weeks, so a Carabao Cup match represents a convenient point to bring him back into the fold with some minutes.

Ryan Gravenberch | Gravenberch could be due for a back-to-back start if Iraola seeks to rest Alexis Mac Allister.

Trey Nyoni | It would be very surprising to not see Nyoni play this one. Iraola will surely want to see how the youngster fares starting against Premier League opposition to decide whether he can be relied on more going forward.

Dominik Szoboszlai | It would be interesting to see Szoboszlai return to the No. 10 position but in Iraola's new-look system.

Rio Ngumoha | Rio had a lively cameo against Fulham and a good game against Atletico Madrid beforehand; he could be given the opportunity to build on his form against Tottenham.

Cody Gakpo | A start for Gakpo is not out of the question, with the Dutchman in need of minutes to get back up to speed.

Lewis Koumas | Alexander Isak has started every game for Liverpool this season and could definitely do with a rest. Koumas is a big favourite of Iraola, so it would make sense for him to be given a chance in this one.

Tottenham Team News

In his own press conference earlier today, Roberto de Zerbi revealed that Sandro Tonali will miss the game after receiving a knock in their last match, whilst Pedro Porro and Mykhailo Mudryk remain unavailable. Meanwhile, Destiny Udogie is fit to start, and Richarlison remains frozen out of Spurs' squad.

Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, and Dejan Kulesevski are all still recovering from long-term injuries and are unavailable.

Tottenham Predicted XI:

  • Dubravka
  • Gray
  • Tosin
  • Senesi
  • Udogie
  • Bentancur
  • Bergvall
  • Gallagher
  • Kudus
  • Solanke
