Mohamed Salah to Trabzonspor: Why the Liverpool Legend Made the Perfect Choice

Mohamed Salah left Liverpool as one of the club's all-time greats and will be talked about in the decades to come, but that doesn't mean his career in top-level football is over just yet.

Where Salah would move next has been a hot topic of conversation in the football world, with some thinking he would go to Saudi Arabia to secure one last big payday before he hangs up his boots. In contrast, others thought he could venture over to America and follow the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski in playing in the MLS to see out his career.

But much like he has so often in his career, Salah has done something different, against the grain and expectations of many, and it could prove to be the best decision the Egyptian King could have made following his LFC exit.

Why Trabzonspor Could Be The Perfect Final Chapter To A Fairytale Story For Mohamed Salah

After weeks of it appearing that Salah was destined to sign for Turkish Giants Besiktas, he has instead signed for a different Turkish team, Trabzonspor.

This will have been seen as a surprise move by many.

Trabzonspor are one of Turkey's historic clubs but does not command the same global profile as Galatasaray, Fenerbahce or Besiktas. Yet that may be precisely why the move makes so much sense.

If he had joined the likes of Besiktas, Fenerbahce, or Galatasaray this summer, he would have just been another superstar within massive clubs in Turkey.

But by moving to Trabzonspor, it allows Salah to be the outright superstar of that team and create a legacy at the Turkish side that means he goes down as one of the greatest to ever play for the club.

Furthermore, Salah has shown throughout his career that he embraces a challenge. Time and again, he has thrived by joining clubs with something to prove and helping to make them a force to be reckoned with, with himself at the centre of that rise.

A New Challenge, But Same Ambitions For Mohamed Salah

Additionally, it achieves Salah's reported aims about remaining in top-level European football, as he still believes he has something to offer at that level.

And while yes, it is a downgrade in league stature compared to the glitz and the glamour of the Premier League, so would any move in world football from the Premier League.

In Turkey, at Trabzonspor, it gives Salah the ability to be the star not only of his club but also the figurehead of the entire league, similar to Cristiano Ronaldo and the Saudi Pro League.

So as Salah embarks on this new chapter of his career, I am sure many Liverpool fans will keep a close eye on how the Egyptian King fares in Turkey and after everything he achieved at Anfield, many will hope he can enjoy another successful spell and add one final memorable chapter to an already extraordinary career.
