Despite a First Team Overhaul Last Summer, Selling Over £200 Million worth of players and spending nearly £500 Million In Signings, it's looking like we may see a similar level summer transfer window this season, but who will be coming in and who will be going out?
Liverpool looks poised for another busy summer of transfers. The club has already said goodbye to two legends in Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah, with more first-team players set to leave in the summer.
It is safe to say this will be a period of massive change in and around the club. Take a look at how the summer could go for the Reds.
Cody Gakpo, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Andrew Robertson Against Manchester United Outgoings:
- Mohamed Salah (leaving already)
- Andy Robertson (leaving already)
- Cody Gakpo
- Federico Chiesa
- Wataru Endo
Cody Gakpo, like most of the team this season, has massively underperformed. As both a winger and a no.9, Gakpo has been quite ineffective and, at times, invisible.
There are indeed more factors to that, like the manager's tactics and in-game management, but at worst, you would expect player quality to shine through, and it simply hasn't for the Dutchman.
Federico Chiesa has been given limited playing time under Arne Slot, and if the Italian forward stays at the club, it is hard to see that changing.
The same goes for Wataru Endo; he gave it his all every time he played, but age is a big factor in the decision to let him go.
RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande in action with St. Pauli's Abdoulie Ceesay and Fin StevensPossible Incomings
Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)
Antonee Robinson (Fulham)
Lutsharel Geertruida (Sunderland)
Bradley Barcola (PSG)
Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth)
Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace)
Liverpool are in dire need of attacking reinforcements, especially now that they have a gaping hole on the right-hand side left by Mohamed Salah. The club need energy and attackers who are constantly taking their man on. Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola are two exciting wingers who are held in high regard by top European clubs.
Liverpool have had a well-documented interest in Barcola since last summer, and Diomande became a breakout star this season with Leipzig, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists. Barcola played an important role in winning the treble last season with PSG and potentially retaining the Champions League this season.
Liverpool could do much worse than adding Adam Wharton to the current group of midfielders. Line-breaking passes and defensive awareness are two solid qualities of his, and considering the amount of side-to-side passing in Slot's current setup, Wharton's forward thinking should help with that.
Marcos Senesi on a free transfer seems like the sort of deal Liverpool would go for; a star performer for Bournemouth on his way to getting European football for the first time in club history. With all the uncertainty regarding Ibrahima Konate's contract situation, Senesi on a free is a no-brainer
Antonee Robinson is another player Liverpool have shown interest in; the Reds even considered the American international as an alternative to Milos Kerkez. Robinson coming in place of Andy Robertson, not as a second choice but as a competitor, should help with keeping Kerkez on his toes, as well as improving performances.
Geertruida, former captain at Feyenoord under Arne Slot, can play across the backline as well as in defensive midfield. Versatility is very much needed at Liverpool, given the injuries that have happened this season
