On the 1st June 2019, Liverpool lifted their 6th UEFA Champions League trophy with one of their most incredible squads in the club’s history. They defeated Spurs 2-0 in Madrid to be crowned kings of Europe, but where are those heroes now?

Alisson has remained at the club and cemented himself as one of the all-time great goalkeepers. His heroics against Napoli in the group stage proved vital as the club went on to win the Champions League.

Seven years later, Alisson found himself in some transfer drama that could have seen him leave the Reds, but Liverpool has decided to block any move for the Brazilian as he remains one of, if not the best, goalkeepers in the world.

Mignolet’s Liverpool career was very rocky, as whilst he used to pull off some incredible performances at times, he simply couldn’t be trusted in the long term.

After the club’s Champions League triumph, he returned to Belgium to play for Club Brugge, where, following the end of the 25/26 season, he retired.

Kelleher enjoyed a large part of his time at Liverpool as the second-choice keeper for Alisson. His time at Liverpool will be remembered for his two iconic performances against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup finals, which saw him make some incredible saves, keeping clean sheets as we became victorious in 2022 and 2024.

Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool in 2025 to join Real Madrid as he had ambitions of winning the Ballon d’Or, something he incredibly referred to during a YouTube video with Sky Sports, exclaiming he would rather win a Ballon d’Or than another Champions League with Liverpool.

He may have to wait a bit longer for that, as Real Madrid won zero trophies this year and Thomas Tuchel has not selected him for the England squad.

He left the club in a very distasteful way, running down his contract, which saw him get booed by Liverpool fans in one of his final games at Anfield.

Gomez remains the longest-serving player still at Liverpool, as he joined before Jurgen Klopp had arrived back in the summer of 2015, where he was briefly managed by Brendan Rodgers.

He came on in the 90th minute of the Champions League final, ensuring the Reds stayed tight at the back.

The unsung hero, Joel Matip. He provided the assist for Liverpool’s second goal, which secured the Champions League title in the 87th minute.

Matip ended his eight-season stay at Liverpool in 2024, when he decided to retire from the beautiful game.

Joel has since returned to Anfield, being invited back by Virgil van Dijk.

A man who has since cemented himself as one of the all-time greats in football, Liverpool’s current captain, Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutch centre back picked up the man of the match award in the final and has since finished 2nd place in the Ballon d’Or, controversially, losing out marginally to Lionel Messi, and has captained Liverpool to a second Premier League title, as well as scoring the winning goal in the Carbao Cup final against Chelsea in 2024.

Lovren left Liverpool in the summer of 2020 after the club won the Premier League title. He stayed two seasons at Zenit St. Petersburg before moving to his former club Lyon for the following two seasons.

He now plays for Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki and has only extended his trophy cabinet, winning two league titles and two super cups during his time at Zenit St. Petersburg.

Robertson Carlos. Liverpool legend Andy Robertson has officially departed the club after a beautiful nine-year spell.

He came as a boy and left as a man. Having impressed on his debut against Crystal Palace in 2017, things have only gotten better for the Scottish international as he won every trophy possible at Liverpool and is looking ahead to a World Cup where he’ll be captaining Scotland.

Robertson is now likely to join the runners-up of the UCL Final in 2019, Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spanish left back, who had an incredible second match for Liverpool against Spurs back in 2014, had high hopes, but his defending quality was far below his attacking output, which meant Liverpool were keen to move on from Moreno after the Champions League victory.

Moreno went on to join Villarreal, where he was part of a squad that beat Manchester United in the Europa League final in the 20/21 season - excited to share on his Instagram live, ‘For the fans of Liverpool, get out Manchester United!’

He now plays his football for Italian side Como, working under Cesc Fabregas.

Liverpool’s first-ever captain to lift the Premier League… Jordan Henderson. He remained at the club until the summer of 2023, where he realised his game time was going to be extremely limited, following the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

He joined up with Gini Wijnaldum to play for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq, where he was coached under Steven Gerrard. Yes, that is a real sentence.

Henderson didn’t adapt very well to the lifestyle there and moved back to Europe, where he played for Ajax before once again making the move to the Premier League, where he currently plays his football for Brentford.

In his most recent appearance for the club he finally got the appreciation/send-off he would've loved from Liverpool fans, receiving a round of applause as he was substituted off.

The lighthouse, Fabinho’s Liverpool career peaked a lot earlier than some would’ve wanted. He played exceptional football from 2018 till early 2022, but the fanbase wasn’t happy with his performances beyond that.

He left the club in the summer of 2023 for a £40 million deal to join Al-Ittihad, where he currently plays. He has won the Saudi Pro League and King’s Cup since being there and is looking forward to playing for Brazil in the 2026 World Cup.

Gini was always a fan favourite but left the club for free in the summer of 2020, running down his contract.

He left to join French side PSG, playing with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Jr, Lionel Messi, and he briefly trained with current Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike before finalising a move to Al-Ettifaq.

Wijnaldum is the current captain of Al-Ettifaq and lives his life in Saudi Arabia.

Milner has today announced his retirement from football, playing at 6 different clubs during his career, winning everything there was to win, including the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool and a combined three Premier League titles.

He will be remembered as a Premier League great, as he reached the incredible milestone of the most appearances for a player that the league has ever seen.

Lallana’s Liverpool career saw reduced minutes during the club’s Champions League and Premier League winning seasons, but he’ll always be appreciated for his first couple of seasons under Jurgen Klopp.

Adam went on to join Brighton before returning to Southampton, where he has since retired and become a coach for their U21 team.

Things were supposed to turn out differently for the Ox, but injuries had ruined his career. Whilst he still contributed to the club’s domestic success, winning the Premier League title and league and FA cups, he could still have been playing at a higher level.

Recently, he won the Scottish Premier League for Celtic as well as the Scottish Cup and became a free agent in the summer.

Whilst Naby Keita wasn’t part of the UCL final squad, it feels wrong to leave him out. A player who featured in 9/12 matchday squads in Europe that season.

His time at Liverpool ended the same as the Ox, in 2023, which saw him join Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. Following some personal disputes he had with the club, he was forced to leave, and he joined his current club, Ferencvarosi, in Hungary.

He became league champion under head coach Robbie Keane (yes, you read that correctly), and the following season won the Hungarian Cup.

The Egyptian King continued playing his football for the Reds, where he officially announced that the 25/26 campaign would be his final season, ending nine years at the club.

What a journey it has been for Salah, cementing himself as arguably the best player in Premier League history.

Where Salah moves on to next remains to be seen. Saudi Arabia would LOVE to have him, but is his time in Europe finished?

Bobby Firmino said farewell to Liverpool fans in 2023, as tears were shed following his final home game of the season against Aston Villa.

He had options from European sides, including Real Madrid, but opted for a move to Saudi Arabia, where he joined Al-Ahli.

Firmino became the first of three players to win both the UEFA Champions League and AFC Champions League (his teammates Riyad Mahrez and Edouard Mendy joined him).

Unfortunately, Firmino was pushed to the side to make room for Ivan Toney. This saw Bobby join Qatari side Al-Sadd, where he recently became a league champion.

Sadio Mane left Liverpool following the heartbreaking end to the 21/22 campaign, which saw the Reds lose out on a Premier League title and Champions League final in the space of a week.

He joined European giants Bayern Munich, and despite the positive start at the club, where he won the German Super Cup, fans quickly turned their back on Sadio. He was underperforming and had a major dispute with Leroy Sane, with a punch apparently thrown.

In a season where it looked like Bayern weren’t going to lift the Bundesliga title, Borussia Dortmund had absolutely thrown the league title away on the final matchday of the season, drawing 2-2 with 9th-place Mainz at home.

Musiala’s last-minute goal meant that Bayern Munich had won the league title on goal difference, seeing Sadio Mane become a league champion once again.

Sadio Mane then joined Al-Nassr and played a vital role in helping the club win the Saudi Pro League for the 25/26 season. He currently plays alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Felix and Kingsley Coman.

He has also became a two-time* AFCON champion for Senegal, most recently in 2025, in one of the most bizarre endings to a tournament ever, which saw Senegal's players leave the pitch following some questionable refereeing decisions.

The AFCON title has since been given to Morocco, despite Senegal winning 1-0 on the night.

One of England’s most talented players, who, without injuries, could still be playing today. At 32 years old, Sturridge had to retire from football, ending his career at Australian side Perth Glory.

He has since been working for Sky Sports, where he plays the role of a pundit. It’d be fair to say he’s like Marmite - you either like him, or you don’t, as his personality is definitely extroverted to say the least!

Sturridge has also featured in a YouTube charity match for the BetaSquad, playing alongside content creators Niko Omilana, AJ Shabeel, Chunkz, King Kenny and Sharky.

The powercube made a move to Lyon in 2021, following his limited game time at Liverpool. Unfortunately, this continued as he played just 11 league matches for the French side before making the switch to the MLS, where he played for Chicago Fire.

Shaqiri was one of the most in-form players during his time there, but the team as a whole weren’t very good. He opted for another move and this time to his boyhood club, where everything all started, FC Basel.

He had 1 goal, and that was to win the Swiss Super League for the club, which he accomplished in the 24/25 season, registering 18 goals and 20 assists along the way.

One of the most iconic members of that Liverpool squad was young Rhian Brewster, as he went viral for his video he posted wearing a Champions League medal whilst getting a haircut. 

Rhian was always going to struggle breaking into the Liverpool first team, given the players ahead of him in the pecking order, so he sought out a loan move to Swansea, where he was averaging a goal every two games for the Welsh club.

His career didn’t quite kick off after this, but he now plays for Championship side Derby County.

The man, the myth, the legend. Where is Divock Origi now? He remained at Liverpool until 2022, where he parted ways with the club following the end of his contract.

He went on to join Italian giants AC Milan but was phased out of the club, given his disappointing performances. During his time here, he also went on loan to Nottingham Forest, but he scored zero goals in his return to the Premier League.

He is now 31 years old and has been without a club since 2025. Divock Origi seems to have moved on from football and has taken a serious interest in the fashion world, posting himself at fashion shows.

No matter where Origi is in the world, he will always have the love from Liverpool supporters, playing one of the biggest roles in helping the club achieve Champions League success.

The Normal One, Jurgen Klopp, has enjoyed a break from football following his shocking departure in 2024.

He currently works as the Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, with never-ending rumours that he is set to enter a managerial role again.
