Liverpool's plans for their young players is beginning to take shape as Kieran Morrison's loan move is confirmed, with Calvin Ramsay soon to follow. And the Reds face crucial decision over the future of James McConnell in the closing days of the window.

Movement for any more incomings at Liverpool has slowed down significantly in recent weeks, however loan moves for some of the clubs fringe/youth players are in full swing as the club have confirmed one with another two potentially coming before the end of the window.

Kieran Morrison Completes Loan Move To Sheffield Wednesday

Firstly, the move that has been officially announced by the club is one that had been getting worked on for a number of days, which is Kieran Morrison's loan switch to recently relegated League One side Sheffield Wednesday.

The Northern Ireland international showed some bright sparks while playing for the Reds during their pre-season campaign, with him even getting the first goal of the Andoni Iraola era against Sunderland in the US.

The 19 year old has just come off the back of a very successful season with the Liverpool Under 21's as he scored 14 goals and four assists in 19 games in the Premier League 2 last season.

So now LFC see his development best served going out on loan and getting some senior men's football minutes under his belt, with Sheffield Wednesday seen as the ideal place for him to do it.

Sheffield Wednesday endured an awful season last time out in the Championship, with the club having severe financial difficulties and it culminated in the club receiving multiple points deductions, as well as a change in ownership.

But the Owls are entering a new era and this move presents Kieran Morrison with an amazing opportunity to go and hopefully replicate his glittering U21 form in League One and push for promotion with his new club.

Calvin Ramsay Closing In On A Move To St Mirren

Another Liverpool player heading for the exit doors this summer is Calvin Ramsay. The 23 year old has never really settled at Liverpool since his switch from Aberdeen in 2022, and has played very little senior competitive football at all in the last four years.

Despite LFC sending the Scottish full back out on loan to try and kick start his career again, nothing successful came from these spells away from the club. And following a steady showing in pre-season, it would appear the Ramsay is set to move back to Scotland for the season and sign for Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on a season long loan.

This was a move Liverpool needed to make this summer, as due to Calvin Ramsay not playing enough football since his move to England, he does not qualify as a homegrown player, meaning he was registered in a valuable non-homegrown player slot.

And given the club have no more free slots in that area, the departure of Calvin Ramsay would mean that should the club sign the likes of Bradley Barcola this summer, he can be registered without any issues.

What is also significant about this deal is that fact that Ramsay is out of contract at Liverpool next summer, meaning this move, seemingly without any sort of contract renewal, could spell the end of Calvin Ramsay's unsuccessful Liverpool career.

James McConnell Could Leave The Club On Loan, But Not Quite Yet

The final of the three possible loan moves is James McConnell. The English midfielder featured in Andoni Iraola's pre-season teams, but it had appeared he was likely to move out on loan for the season and gain important first team minutes, but that move has been put on pause for the moment, according to reports.

James Pearce has today reported that Preston North End had hoped to secure the services of James McConnell this summer on a loan deal, but Liverpool are wary of letting the 21 year old leave, and subsequently reducing the number of midfielders available to Andoni Iraola, given Curtis Jones is already set to leave and join Inter Milan in the coming days.

The report goes on to say that Liverpool will not make a final decision over whether to loan out McConnell until the last few days of the window, so this is one to keep an eye on as the transfer window draws to a conclusion.
