PSG President Says They Are 'Working Calmly' On Bradley Barcola Deal
PSG played in the UEFA Super Cup last night where thanks to goals from Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue, the Parisians retained their Super Cup title.
But what some LFC fans may have noticed is that neither Bradley Barcola or Ibrahim Mbaye played any minutes of this fixture, despite the latter of those in Mbaye featuring in PSG's pre-season games prior to this fixture.
Now, this may have just been selection choices from Luis Enrique as after all many teams still use the Super Cup as a form of a pre-season game, but perhaps it could be linked to potential summer departures for the Parisian duo.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi was then interviewed after the game where he was asked about Bradley Barcola's future at the club:
“We’re working calmly, we don’t talk too much, we do. I can’t say whether he will leave or not.
Today, he is a PSG player. We’ll see!”
REUTERS/Gintare KarpaviciuteHe was also quizzed on the reports that LFC deemed the asking price of PSG too high and they are not willing to meet those demands:
“We’ll see… the discussion is part of the negotiation.”
So, this would suggest that, like many have suspected, it is possible that PSG lower their demands for Bradley Barcola this summer and hopefully for Liverpool's sake, the two clubs can meet in the middle in terms of price and all parties can emerge from negotiations happy with the outcome.
How Much Would Barcola And Mbaye Cost LFC This Summer?
Liverpool, as well as holding a high interest in Barcola, have also been linked with another PSG forward in Ibrahim Mbaye, The Senegalese international winger shined at the World Cup, scoring a particularly good goal against France.
It was reported a couple of weeks ago that LFC had enquired about Mbaye this summer, as the Reds continue to look to add pace and versatile wingers to their forward line ranks.
Reuters/Troy WayrynenBut talk about Mbaye to Liverpool went quiet and it has now been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Liverpool deem the price that PSG have placed on Mbaye as too high, following conversations with the players agent Jorge Mendes.
More details on this price has been revealed by Fabrizio Romano, who has stated that PSG value Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola at a combined €200 million (£171 million), and if reports are to be believed the Reds aren't willing to spend that much money on securing both PSG wingers.
Could Cody Gakpo Hold The Key To LFC Signing Both Mbaye & Barcola This Summer?
But perhaps a deal isn't over for LFC in regards to signing both Barcola and Mbaye as it would appear that a fellow Premier League club have Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo at the top of their transfer target list this summer.
That club is Tottenham Hotspur and it has been reported from numerous sources that Gakpo is wanted by Roberto De Zerbi and Spurs this transfer window.
Reuters/Jason CairnduffBen Jacobs has said that Cody Gakpo is open to a move to Tottenham but Liverpool are unlikely to negotiate a departure for Gakpo until they have signed one or two attackers, and he believes that this is a transfer to keep an eye on towards the end of the window.
If Cody Gakpo was to leave the club this summer, could we then see LFC make a move for both Barcola and Mbaye, or will Liverpool look elsewhere for their second winger, should the Dutchman depart the club this month?
