Although Liverpool endured a frustrating 2025/26 season overall, Gakpo continued to show why he is valued so highly at Anfield.
The Netherlands international featured heavily across all competitions, making 49 appearances, scoring nine goals and registering six assists. In the Premier League alone, he contributed seven goals and five assists in 36 appearances, averaging a solid 7.17 FotMob rating while regularly being deployed across the front three.
What statistics cannot fully capture is Gakpo’s tactical importance. Comfortable on either wing or through the middle, the 27-year-old gives Liverpool flexibility that few attackers can match. While transfer speculation continues to surround the club, Gakpo offers reliability, versatility and proven quality at the highest level.
