With new contract talks slowing at Bayern Munich, Michael Olise could once again be subject to high levels of interest in future transfer windows, with Liverpool keeping a close eye on the Frenchman's situation in Germany.
Despite the summer window having been and gone, Liverpool continues to be linked with players from all around the world, but this link is more high-profile.
When Mohamed Salah announced his departure in the final third of last season, fans and the media began to speculate about who the club might look to bring in to replace the outgoing Egyptian icon.
And the first and top name on everyone's list was Bayern Munich and France superstar Michael Olise.

The French winger left the Premier League back in 2024 after three strong seasons at Crystal Palace.
He signed from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for a reported £50 million, and has taken his game to the next level from the moment he arrived in Munich.
In his first campaign, he scored 17 goals and registered 18 assists, helping Bayern Munich win the league title. But to prove to everyone that this wasn't just one standout season, he did it again.

It was quickly becoming clear that Olise wasn't just lucky to hit these numbers; he was fully deserving of them, and has now established himself as one of the world's best footballers at the moment, and certainly the best in his position.
The Summer Transfer Window
Therefore, it was no surprise to anyone when he started getting linked to big money moves to the likes of Real Madrid during the previous transfer window, but Bayern Munich were firm in their stance that their world-class winger was not for sale at any price.
Liverpool did throw their name into the mix in the early weeks of the window, but after hearing Bayern's strong position on any Olise departure, the Reds moved on to other targets, eventually landing on fellow Frenchman Bradley Barcola.

Bayern v Olise - Contract Stand-off
Ever since Olise's breakout season, the 35-time champions of Germany have been trying to sit down with the 24-year-old and agree on a new deal with him.
These discussions have dragged on, though and while his current contract doesn't expire until 2029, each passing year means that Bayern will lose money on any future sale and could even risk losing Olise on a free transfer.

According to SportsBild in Germany, Michael Olise remains a transfer interest to both Real Madrid and Liverpool, who continue to monitor the player.
It appears that, should the French international depart Germany, Liverpool and Real Madrid are firmly in the race to sign him.
The report goes on to say that Olise remains unsure about signing a new deal at Bayern Munich and is currently insisting that any new contract he signs includes a release clause.
