Ornstein Claims Breakthrough
The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle on the terms of a deal with Paris Saint-Germain, following an overnight breakthrough.
The package is reported to be worth around £120million, including approximately £100m guaranteed, although some details between the clubs still needed to be finalised.

Fabrizio Romano also reports that Liverpool and PSG have reached the “final stages” of negotiations, with discussions now involving the highest-ranking officials at both clubs. Romano added that a breakthrough is considered “imminent”, while reiterating that Barcola has consistently prioritised Liverpool.
That represents a significant shift after weeks of stubborn negotiations.
Paul Joyce of The Times reported that fresh talks had taken place between the clubs, with PSG lowering their demands from an original valuation of roughly £145m to around £115m.
The France international has two years remaining on his contract but is seeking greater prominence after fierce competition for places in Luis Enrique’s attack.

French outlet L’Équipe had already described Barcola as PSG’s biggest outgoing transfer situation heading into the final days of the window, while sporting advisor Luis Campos publicly refused to rule out his departure.
The 23-year-old’s desire has never appeared to be the stumbling block. Earlier reports from L’Équipe claimed Barcola had given Liverpool his verbal approval, while Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport reported that Anfield was his priority should he leave Paris.
Fabrizio Romano also previously confirmed that official club-to-club negotiations had begun after Liverpool indicated an opening proposal worth more than €100m.
