After seeing two bids rejected by Brighton, the Reds are reportedly readying a third and improved offer for Yankuba Minteh, with the explosive winger waiting in the wings.

Liverpool appear ready to test Brighton’s resolve once again, with the Reds reportedly preparing a third bid for Yankuba Minteh as their search for attacking reinforcements enters a decisive stage.

Reports of Third Bid

Gambian journalist Foday Manneh, who has been reporting closely on Minteh’s situation, claims Liverpool have discussed an improved proposal internally and are ready to return to the negotiating table. The 22-year-old is also said to be waiting to formalise personal terms should an agreement between the clubs be reached.

It follows two failed attempts from Liverpool. Their opening offer of £50million was rejected before Brighton also turned down an improved £60million bid. Sky Sports reports that the Seagulls’ valuation has still not been met, with other reports placing their asking price at around £70million.

That leaves Liverpool with a decision to make: pay the premium or risk watching another attacking target slip away.

Minteh is certainly an intriguing option. Predominantly operating from the right, his direct running, explosive acceleration and willingness to attack defenders would give Andoni Iraola the natural width his Liverpool side currently needs.

Player Stats

The numbers don’t necessarily scream £70million, though. Minteh registered three goals and four assists across 34 Premier League appearances in 2025/26, following six goals and four assists from 32 appearances during his debut Brighton campaign.

Overall, he has accumulated nine goals and eight assists in 66 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls.

There is also an immediate complication. Minteh is currently recovering from a leg injury and is reportedly expected to remain sidelined until around October.

Liverpool’s determination to pursue him regardless perhaps says plenty about how highly their recruitment department rates his long-term potential.

At 22, Liverpool would not simply be buying the finished article. They would be investing in speed, aggression, Premier League experience and considerable room for development.

Minteh has previously shown his ceiling too. During his 2023/24 loan spell at Feyenoord, he produced 10 goals and five assists in 27 Eredivisie appearances.

Liverpool are also pursuing other attacking options, including PSG’s Bradley Barcola, but Minteh remains firmly among their priorities as the 1st September deadline approaches.

Two bids have been rejected. Brighton have drawn their line in the sand.

Liverpool’s third attempt could tell us just how badly they want Yankuba Minteh.
