Liverpool’s summer rebuild under Andoni Iraola could be about to take another exciting turn, with reports suggesting the Reds are pushing to sign highly-rated Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye.

According to reports, the 18-year-old has given the green light to a move to Anfield, with talks between Liverpool and PSG expected to begin shortly. While the club continue their pursuit of Bradley Barcola, Mbaye is also viewed as a player capable of strengthening Liverpool’s options on the right side as Iraola reshapes his attacking unit.

Mbaye has long been regarded as one of the brightest talents to emerge from PSG’s academy. Blessed with explosive acceleration, close control and an eye for goal, the Senegalese-born winger has impressed at youth level before making the breakthrough into the first-team picture.

During the 2025/26 season, Mbaye made 18 senior appearances across all competitions for PSG, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Although many of those outings came from the bench, he consistently showed flashes of his enormous potential. His direct running and willingness to attack defenders made him one of PSG’s most exciting young options whenever called upon.

The teenager is comfortable operating on either wing but naturally favours the right, where he can isolate full-backs before driving inside onto his stronger left foot. His ability to beat opponents one-on-one has drawn comparisons with some of Europe’s elite young wingers, while his fearless attitude has caught the attention of several top clubs.

For Liverpool, the move makes plenty of sense under Iraola. The Spaniard’s high-intensity, vertical style relies on quick transitions, relentless pressing and attackers willing to run directly at defenders. Mbaye possesses every one of those qualities.

Rather than expecting the teenager to become an immediate starter, Liverpool could offer him the ideal environment to continue his development alongside established stars. Competition for places would remain fierce, but Iraola has shown throughout his managerial career that he isn’t afraid to trust young players who demonstrate the right mentality and work ethic.

If Liverpool succeed in landing both Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, it would represent a significant statement of intent. One signing would provide proven quality, while the other could develop into one of Europe’s next elite wide forwards.

Mbaye remains a player with immense potential rather than the finished article, but under Iraola’s guidance and Liverpool’s renowned development pathway, Anfield could prove to be the perfect stage for the next chapter of his rapidly growing career.
