Nottingham Forest have emerged as a potential destination for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, with the move gaining traction as the potential British-record sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City is close to completion.

The transfer of Anderson, thought to be worth more than £100 million, will provide Forest with significant financial resources and create a need for a high-quality replacement, with Talksport understanding that Jones is a primary target .

The 25-year-old Liverpool academy graduate has just one year remaining on his contract, and Liverpool are reportedly willing to listen to offers in the region of £35-40 million.

This development comes after Liverpool rejected a €25 million (£21.5m) bid from Inter Milan. Nottingham Forest's interest could now complicate Inter's pursuit, particularly as the Premier League side has the financial capacity to meet Liverpool's asking price.

There is also a potential transfer domino effect at play, with reports linking Forest to Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi as another Anderson replacement option. A sale of Frattesi to Forest would in turn help Inter raise funds to make an improved offer for Jones.

Earlier in June, Inter's sporting director Piero Ausilio, said: "Curtis Jones - we are paying attention to him. We didn't hide. We understand what the developments will be."

Jones played 51 matches across the Premier League, Champions League, and domestic cups. He contributed 3 goals and 3 assists in all competitions; in the Premier League specifically, 1 goal and 2 assists.

The standout number from Curtis Jones's 2025/26 season is his 92.1% pass completion from 546 passes in the final third — the best in the Premier League among players with 500+ such passes. He completed 2,194 passes overall at a 92.73% completion rate, the best in Liverpool's entire squad.

A move for Curtis Jones away from Anfield has been mooted for some time, usually down to his lack of playing time or difficulty holding down a first XI spot.

However, Jones's significant playing time at Liverpool last season — 34 league appearances totaling 2,850 minutes — raises questions about whether he would be eager to leave Anfield for a mid-table club like Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League has a spending power unmatched by any other league which may make it difficult for Inter Milan to match Forest.
