Last month, Casemiro confirmed that he will be closing the curtain on his Manchester United career this summer, at the end of his four year contract at the club.
It's safe to say that the Brazilian is a very popular figure within the dressing room and the supporters. He has a very likeable character and has stepped up in multiple big moments during his time at United.
Truth be told, it's probably for the best he moves on. We have seen at times this season, such as the 4-4 draw with AFC Bournemouth, and the win over Everton on Monday, that his mobility, or lack there of, can be a hinderance to the team.
That does not make him a bad player, not now or during his Old Trafford tenure overall, but it would be best for him to go out on a high, rather than the way some players have previously left.
Many fans are interested to see where the midfielder will go next. Some have assumed he will go to MLS or the Saudi Pro League, whilst others have suggested a move back to Brazil - perhaps returning to Sao Paulo, where it all began for him.
However, it would appear that Casemiro has other plans. As per Samuel Luckhurst, he is keen to continue his career in Europe after he leaves United. He has apparently said that he believes he is capable of competing at a high level.
Furthermore, Luckhurst suggests that sources close to the player have mentioned Italy as a possible move, citing Luka Modric's move to giants AC Milan last summer. That would certainly be interesting. Over the years, Serie A has gathered a reputation for being able to give older players a second wind.
As mentioned above, Modric moved there last summer as he approached his 40th birthday. 34 year old Kevin de Bruyne also joined Napoli last summer. It is perhaps the best league out of the top 5 to go to as an older player.
Having played for Porto, Real Madrid and United in Europe, it is clear that Casemiro enjoys playing for big clubs with a big history, so a move to Milan would continue that trend for him.
The thought of the Brazilian reuniting with former Madrid midfield partner Modric is pretty exciting and cool to think about. Wherever he ends up, you can be sure that United fans will wish him all the very best of luck.
