Michael Carrick reshuffles his backline and prepares an emotional Old Trafford farewell for Casemiro as the Reds chase the final point needed to secure third place.

What legacy is Casemiro leaving at Man Utd?

Manchester United return to Old Trafford for the final time this season on Sunday afternoon as Michael Carrick’s men face Nottingham Forest in their penultimate game of the campaign.

Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30pm, with the occasion expected to carry extra emotion as several players could be making their final appearances at Old Trafford. Among them is Casemiro, who is set for a memorable send-off from the home support ahead of his anticipated summer departure.

United missed the chance to edge closer to securing third place last time out after being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Goalkeeper Senne Lammens stood out with another strong display in an otherwise uninspiring outing for the Reds.

With Aston Villa defeating Liverpool on Friday evening, United will need just one point from their remaining two fixtures to secure third place in the league this season.

United to make changes vs Forest

Senne Lammens has started every game for United since making his debut at the beginning of October, and is certain to see the season's final two fixtures, barring injury.

In defence, there may be a change Carrick could be keen to see. Ayden Heaven was dropped against Sunderland despite his great form due to Lisandro Martínez's return, but given that the last two ties are somewhat of a free hit for the Reds, he could trial a new partnership.

Harry Maguire has been playing admirable football since Carrick joined the club, but many have pondered whether Martínez and Heaven could be a great centre-back pairing. This may be the ideal game to test the duo out.

As for the full-backs, it's expected that Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot will both remain on the left and right flanks.

In midfield, Casemiro missed the 0-0 draw last weekend, but it was confirmed earlier this week that the Brazilian is fit to play Forest in what will be his final game at Old Trafford. It will be an emotional farewell for the midfielder.

Next to him will be Kobbie Mainoo, who recently reached 100 appearances for the Reds, with Bruno Fernandes ahead of the two as the club's captain and attacking midfielder.

Fernandes is on 19 assists for the season, just one off equalling the all-time Premier League record for assists in a single campaign.

As for the front three, Carrick confirmed earlier this week that striker Benjamin Šeško has been carrying a shin problem, suggesting he may not be fit to start. In this case, it would be Bryan Mbeumo who plays up front.

With Mbeumo therefore not on the right wing, Amad will be the logical successor, while Cunha is certain to remain on the left flank, although Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu could be given further minutes amid his return from injury.

United predicted XI vs Nottingham Forest: Lammens, Dalot, Heaven, Martínez, Shaw, Casemiro, Mainoo, Amad, Fernandes, Cunha, Mbeumo
