Manchester United impressed against Nottingham Forest with a 3-2 win in Casemiro's farewell match.
Michael Carrick's future at Manchester United appears to be set in stone, although the club have to confirm that he will lead the side next season.
Roundtable understands that Carrick will have a larger say in transfers than his predecessor, Rúben Amorim, with several important additions to make this summer.
Replacing Casemiro will be United's main focus this summer. The Brazilian enjoyed his final game in front of the Old Trafford crowd against Nottingham Forest, as the Red Devils impressed with a 3-2 win.
Bruno Fernandes levelled the Premier League assist record (20) when Bryan Mbeumo netted United's third of the game, having missed several opportunites to break his 10-game duct earlier on in the match.
Carrick will be pleased with his side's performance with just one more game to play this season. United confirmed third place in the Premier League thanks to their win against Forest, and can head into the final game against Brighton without any pressure.
Carrick drops future hint
It seems merely a matter of time before Carrick is confirmed as the permanent head coach of Manchester United - something which he seemingly admitted after full-time.
Speaking to the crowd, he said: "We've had some big moments and some big goals in this place over the last few months.
"Hopefully we have more of them. Take care and have a great summer."
Carrick also took the chance to send of Tyrell Malacia in front of the Old Trafford crowd.
"There’s Tyrell, who I spoke to the lads about before kick-off," said Carrick. "He’s been through a tough period because of injuries. I invite you to show him your affection."
A touch of class from the future full-time head coach of United, who will be hoping he can end the season with another three points against Brighton.
Casemiro's farewell
As well as Carrick's speech, the Old Trafford crowd also heard from Casemiro after his final game in front of the Stretford End.
"Thank you to everyone," said the five-time Champions League winner. "To the players, to the staff, to everyone, but the best thing in this club is you, the fans. Thank you."
Casemiro will be hoping he gets a start in the final match of the season, although Carrick may take the opportunity to test out some young players who could join the squad next season.
Most young players were absent from the squad today, due to the Premier League Two final on Friday evening, and the FA Youth Cup final on Wednesday.
Shea Lacey, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher and Jack Moorhouse will be candidates to join up with the first-team squad before the trip South.
