Roundtable understands that Manchester United are set to hand Michael Carrick a larger say in the transfer process than Rúben Amorim.
Michael Carrick is set to become Manchester United's permenant head coach next season, following his brilliant form this camapign.
Ahead of the final two gameweeks of the Premier League, Carrick's side have won ten, drawn three, and lost just two of their 15 games under the former midfielder.
Roundtable exclusively revealed on Thursday that the club were preparing to offer the 44-year-old a two-year contract, with the option to extend it for a further season.
It has now been reported that Carrick has accepted this contract, with the club hoping to have the deal wrapped up and announced before the club face Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.
Sources: Carrick's contract hands him transfer power
Since news broke of the two-year contract, many of those who follow United closely have suggested that it's a very good contract length that gives Carrick time to grow his squad while the club don't overcommit.
But there has also been discussion surrounding what the club's aims under Carrick should be next season, given their return to the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Champions League, alongside the Premier League.
The summer transfer window will be crucial for Michael Carrick's hopes next season, especially with Casemiro leaving the club, as he has been one of the most important stars since the Englishman's arrival.
Roundtable understands that Carrick is set to have a more significant say in recruitment compared to his predecessor, with the United boss having asked for assurances that he will be more involved than Rúben Amorim was.
United are said to have welcomed the idea of and are keen to implement a more cooperative approach to transfers ahead of what is likely to be a pivotal window for the Reds.
United aiming high under Carrick
It has been widely reported that, amid United's hunt for a new head coach, the club have 'Project 150' in mind – the aim of winning the Premier League in the 2027/28 season, on the 150th anniversary of the their inception.
However, some of United's current squad, such as Mason Mount have already stated they want to challenge for the title next season.
Speaking to Sky Sports earlier this month, Mount was asked if there is a belief that United can challenge for the Premier League title next season.
“I think you have to be realistic, but there is a big confidence behind that," the midfielder replied.
“Some of the games that we played this season - away at Arsenal, Liverpool - we know it is about consistency through the whole season. If we can get that right, we’ll be right up there.”
